The leader of the 260 thousand member Canadian Auto Workers Union has had his membership in the NDP taken after he endorsed Liberals in the election.
The Ontario NDP executive says Buzz Hargrove violated their constitution. The expulsion also pulls his membership from the federal NDP.
“I was shocked and surprised,” said Hargrove, who has held an NDP membership card for 41 years. “I never had any warning that this was coming or being debated. I never had a chance to speak.”
Seems to me the NDP Ontario executive are upset because they believe he spoke too much during the election. Hargrove has been told he can regain his party membership if he writes a letter promising not to endorse other parties in the future.
“Not a chance,” Hargrove said in an interview. “That won’t happen.”
