An American who was among four Christian activists kidnapped last year in Iraq has been killed, a State Department spokesman said Friday. The FBI verified that a body found in Iraq Friday morning was that of Tom Fox, 54, of Clear Brook, Va., spokesman Noel Clay said. He said he had no information on the other three hostages.

Clay said additional forensics will be done in the United States. The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is investigating, he said.

Fox’s family has been notified, Clay said, and “our heartfelt condolences go out to them.”

Canadians James Loney, 41, and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32; and Briton Norman Kember, 74 were kidnapped along with Tom Fox in November.

The person who hates you most has some good in him; even the nation that hates you most has some good in it; even the race that hates you most has some good in it. And when you come to the point that you look in the face of every man and see deep down within him what religion calls “the image of God,” you begin to love him in spite of. He was a true martyr and inspiration. He gave up his life, and now he receives it.

It is sad what happened to Tom Fox. And it is sad that he didn’t die because of his faith and therefore become a martyr, but was killed because he was American.

It is so sad that these evil people would harm Mr Fox and the rest of his collegues in such manner. These people are brave enough to go to their country and try to bring peace and love to those hurting because of this uninvited war among countries. As Mr Fox was born unto this world with God knowing the reasons for his birth and death…my the family of Mr. Fox find peace in knowning that even when they question why God would let this happen as we all question each day that innocent people dir becuase of this war…he died knowing, loving and living for the Almighty God…doing what he did best…bringing love and restitution to those who have never seen love in the magnitude that he showed it.

May Mr Fox rest in peace….My thoughts are with his family.
