An Afghan Christian facing a court and potential for his faith may be spared.
Abdul Rahman has received world wide attention and under the Afghan law could face death for his conversion to Christianity 16 years ago.
He is expected to be released soon. as the court through out the charges citing too many gaps in information.
The Afghan consititution allows for respect and freedom of different faiths and tensions are high between the legal system and the elected government.
Key international backers of President Hamid Karzai have called for Mr Rahman’s release, while Muslim conservatives in Afghanistan are in favour of his detention.
Mr Karzai has personally intervened in the case and several top level meetings have been held over the past two days to resolve the issue.
Details of his imminent release are being kept secret, as feelings in Kabul have run high over the case.
Canadian bloggers mobilized their readers to speak up including Dainmnation!, relapsed catholic and the tireless web elves at CaNN.

Wow, thank you Jesus for helping Abdul Rahman. This also reconfirms my belief that Karazai is a modern day middle eastern George Washington. (It is hard for me to put them in the same breath but I do feel wonderful about Karazai).
