It seems someone in the marketing department  of/for GM thought it would be a grand idea to advertise the 2007 a Chevy Tahoe by running a contest - a DIY (Do It Yourself) commercial.

Opps.
Gas went up here 5 cents a litre yesterday and people aren’t happy about it. I think a lot of people realize gas prices will probably go up another 25 cents/litre in time for people’s vacations. (the Tahoe gets 15 miles/gal. One gallon is about 3.8 litres)

Guerrilla marketing by people can be entertaining, and these are well done, after all the marketing company provided the tools.  You won’t find these truths in company commercials.
I suppose GM will keep it’s head down, and hope this goes away soon - I’m sure they are well aware people are tired of overpriced gas guzzlers. I’m a bit dubious they didn’t anticipate this backlash.
If they didn’t, they can watch these submitted commercials.

If/when the company yanks them - bloggers are saving them to YouTube. This may go down in marketing history as a bad idea.:^)

Update: All Things Considered has an update on the DIY Chevy Tahoe commercials. Many of them are being collected at Gristmill, Autoblog and Jalopnik and some are disappearing. (if you make one you can email it to yourself, some have not arrived in inboxes) GM says it anticipated this and are pleased people are interacting with the site.

I know! I wonder if we are being had?:^)
#3 was excellent, someone should hire them.
If GM isn’t being had, rather than blowing a gasket, maybe the company can hear what people are saying.
