For all the worry over the large size and influence of MySpace – a social networking site owned by Rupert Murdoch – it’s very size means there are a lot of eyes and people prepared to report threats.
An 18 year old in Lakeland Florida who was a senior at Sonrise Christian School (Church of God) found that out when he posted a ‘countdown’ on his blog to the time he was going to blow up his school.
He has been arrested and charged with Possession of Weapon on School Property on his person; Possession of a Weapon on School Property in his car, Possession of Marijuana Less than 20 grams and Possession of Paraphernalia. More charges are pending.
Don’t think he’ll be graduating with the rest of his class the end of the term. The private school has about 314 students.
He told police it was a ‘senior prank.’
Looking up Church of God – it’s a bit difficult to know which one of the many this school is affiliated with. Seven different sects and denominations use the name including 7th Day Adventists, Mormons, Pentecostals, Holiness and Anabaptists.
