Protein Wisdom down from DoS

Jeff Goldstein who has a political blog called Protein Wisdom, has been receiving threats toward his family in his blogs comment section by a University of Arizona professor.
As with many political blogs, the comment section can get quite heated.
Protein Wisdom is part of a politically conservative network in the US called Pajamas Media, which is financed by investors. For a hilarious history of this blog network see Dennis the Peasant.

Goldstein’s blog is down today because of Denial of Service attacks.
BlackFive lists some of the threats assumed this professor left at Protein Wisdom toward Mr. Goldstein and his family.

DoS: On the Internet, a denial of service (DoS) attack is an incident in which a user or organization is deprived of the services of a resource they would normally expect to have. Typically, the loss of service is the inability of a particular network service, such as e-mail, to be available or the temporary loss of all network connectivity and services.

Update: Inside Higher Education has an interview with Professor Frisch. She tendered her resignation to the University of Arizona. They have accepted it.

There were no death threats. The comments were just vulgar.

If someone came to this blog and made consistent vulgar and obsessive comments about my family I’d consider them a threat.
    I didn’t see death threats.

    vulgar: conspicuously and tastelessly indecent.
