From Ian’s Messy Desk:
If you’re not familiar with blogtipping, it works thus:
- Choose three or more bloggers you admire and link to them;
- List three reasons why you admire each one; and
- Add one tip for each blogger.
Easy Peasy
- Richard, you have such a toppingly eclectic and intelligent group of posters and readers, who cross confounding boundaries of culture, country, generation, gender, denomination, beliefs, ideals and politics. Thanks for bringing us together
- connexions is balanced - boring it ain’t - learning is fun and stimulating
- your commitment to moral clarity is dished out with kindness and compassion, the fruit is there and hence great credibility
TIP: Don’t let the labels and misunderstandings from your US readers stick, okay?
ill illigitimi carborundum
- Mark, whatever pulls my chatty ring is without a doubt one of the most welcoming phrases I’ve ever seen on a blog. It will always make me smile
- your Edifier du Jour show a love for scripture that inspires me to crack open mine
- you have clear-eyed honesty about yourself, and because you do, we grow
TIP: You’ve mentioned you are shy, it would be great to see you comment a bit more, whether it be in a response at your blog, or at a safe friend’s blog under posts that pull your chatty ring.:^)
Alicia, you have championed St. Blog’s, protestants and other faith group bloggers and your diplomacy has helped draw each other together in remarkable ways. Thank you
- you have a discerning and intuitive sense of the blogging community and we need you speaking clearly to it
- your compassion spills off your blog and into our lives
TIP: Don’t stretch yourself too thin helping others, I hope you’ll never be afraid to ask for help if you need it from those of us who you give so freely too.
Ian, your writing is concise and crystal clear.
- your wit is a God given gift and the laughter you give us is wonderful medicine.
- your knowledge is encloypedic, the links you provide are incredibly cool.
- you really have one of the most diverse blogs in this medium.
TIP: You are wise. Don’t be afraid to share your wisdom even when you may question if it would be welcomed.

Thanks for the kind words.
As for being shy, I’m less so on-line. I’m not afraid of putting my $0.02 in when I have something to say that will be helpful. However, I’ll admit to being leery of saying “right on” or “amen” if that’s all I have to say. I also have been leery of commenting on some of your “anti-theocon” (Dobson et al) coverage as of late for fear of merely starting a food fight when I don’t have a really good rebuttal.
For some reason I have a mental picture of the imaginary food fight in Hook, but leeryness is understandable, there has been a few Animal House moments around here.;^)
FOOOOD FIGHT!!!
Whoops
A food fight might be a safer way to “express” differences in opinion. Unless it involved tinned food. 8^)
Thanks for the blog tipping, B.D.
Alicia is a gem. I came to know here just over a year ago now as she found my blog telling of my journey from Protentant Minister to convert to the Catholic faith. She is everything you’ve said Bene. She is a gem.
She is also someone who has handled her share of so-called ‘trolls’ with kindness and grace. Not an easy thing to do.
She’s worthy of your blog tip for certain.
::thrive!
O
I like this blog tipping.
Never been one for memes, but this is unique and brings out the best blogging is.
I think it I’ll make it a regular post. No lack of wonderful people, that’s for sure.:^)
Owen, thank you for your lighthouse comment.
Ian, duck! a theo-con tomato!
Blogtipping really has spread much further than I ever anticipated. It’s just a means to meeting and helping other bloggers, but it has helped me make many new friends in unexpected places. Thanks for paying this forward.
