Artur Pawlowski, 33 a Calgary man who runs The Street Church has been arrested for obstruction, trespassing and disturbing the peace.
Pawlowski’s six friends who were reading the bible and praying with him on the street near a festival were not arrested. He will appear in court September 7th. Because of the threats of drug dealers in the parks and streets he goes out to, he videotapes his street time.
With the support of area churches, he spends most of his time feeding, clothing, housing and loving members of Calgary’s homeless population. He starts by taking his church to them — in front of the Drop-In Centre mostly, but for the past four years, he has often preached to the drug dealers and street kids who congregate in the block-long park in front of Mount Royal Village shopping centre.
Because Pawlowski has been threatened so often by drug dealers angry their clients often turn away from drugs as a result of his message of hope and help, he started videotaping every outing. Wednesday’s was no different.

Just read about this in church today (11/12) and am simply amazed at how low my northern neighbor’s government sank the past few years.
When tarot card readers’ and drug dealers’ “peace” is officially able to be disturbed by the mere sight of other folk standing around a short ways off reading a book and apparently speaking to each other - and what to the “victims” must certainly seem to be an unknown entity - with the speakers eyes closed but still out of the “victims’” earshot, the monkeys have finally taken over the zoo. Shame on Calgary. Shame on Alberta. Shame on Canada.
Any idea what the court held when the pastor made his appearance? Is there more to this story?
Not able to find anything in the media.
Art Pawlowski’s court date was September 7th, 2006.
The media page and the site hasn’t been updated in awhile.
Not sure what you mean by ‘pastor’.
This is a group of volunteers, affiliated with The Victory Outreach Centre, Centre Street Church, the Salvation Army, Elizabeth Fry Society, Calgary Drop In Centres etc.
This group had non-profit status, it’s independent and multi denominational.
The last entry was by a guy named Lawrence working with the street ministry in September. (Lawrence Irwin (?) of Centre Street Church?)
