Jews for Jesus is being sued.
This is really offensive to me. It is not the gospel (the good news of who Jesus is) that offends me, it is the obvious and blatant pot shot at a celebrity. Without. his. permission. There is an undertone to this that is very wrong, it is not good natured, there is a mockery to it that I think most people can see. The comments under the Jews for Jesus press release reflect reader’s displeasure with the attitude and deception.
Jackie Mason thinks so too, and he is suing for 2 million dollars. I don’t know much about him, he is a New York comedian, he is Jewish and Jews for Jesus put this out without his permission.
And you can see that undercurrent in the statement put out by Jews for Jesus about the law suit. This tract is not good natured and ’shame on’ Jews for Jesus (spokesperson statements made at CNN) for the arrogance. Hiding behind free speech and freedom of religion does not hide an undercurrent that has nothing to do with Christianity. And G-d forbid, an apology for genuine offense to another person would be forthcoming.
Jews for Jesus has sued others at least twice. In 1998 they sued a man named Steven Brodsky for cybersquatting. He used the URL jewsforjesus.org to criticise the group’s methods. The organization now owns the domain.
In 2005, Jews for Jesus sued Google for allowing a user to put up jewsforjesus.blogspot.com. The organization now owns the domain.
According to financial accountability sites, Jews for Jesus board members are almost exclusively Assemblies of God and Baptist ministers. The organization apparently operates in several countries, including Canada.
