Lakehead University: Yale Smale ?
The marketing slogan used by Lakehead University of Thunder Bay, “Yale Smale” while a showing the competitive spirit that Lakehead University if known for, is a little controversial but on the one hand it has gained the University worldwide attention. On the other hand when one listens to one of the most noted quotes attributed to one of their most noted graduates, President George Bush regarding fooling and shame, perhaps we should critically access his remarks..
President Bush, while speaking about the need for the United Nations to confront Iraq’s President Saddam Hussein, Bush told an audience at a school in Nashville, Tennessee about a Tennessee quote ” fool me once – shame on you, fool me twice -shame on me”.
President Bush had a hard time remembering the quote and was televised saying, “Fool me once………shame on……..shame on you, …………………and fool me, you can’t get fooled again”.
Not only did he not properly recite the quote, but he also misunderstood the quote, for it suggests you can be fooled a second time, only this time its your fault for being fooled.
As a graduate of Lakehead University School of Business, I am quite proud of the quality of fellow schoolmates who have graduated and accepted notable positions throughout the world. Hopefully the current marketing campaign, will hopefully bring us not only world attention but world recognition; as to President Bush, we all make mistakes, but we should learn from them, especially when your playing with people’s lives… !

University recruitment ads are usually dull and boring to look at. This one is a refreshing departure from the norm. It’s good to see someone up there in Lakehead is thinking from “outside the box”.
…thinking out side the box…
Did you learn that ‘truth’ can ‘lie’…?
