There is a comment over at Halton MP Garth Turner’s blog that is priceless.
Boy, you Canadiens sure know how to throw Political Ruckus, don’t ya?
Yes Kiril we do! This is a regionalized and diverse country, and not nearly as boring as we let on. But shhh! we don’t want to wake the neighbours eh?
I agree, we Canadians are very busy voicing our opinions, causing a ruckus; from BC to Newfoundland. And some of us see that as a good thing and some of us don’t.
If I may be so bold - the Canadiens are a hockey team based in Montreal who have been known to throw a few ruckuses of their own.:^)
Garth Turner left a video message for his riding before facing media yesterday. A lot of Canadians heard about blogs yesterday, some for the first time. Many discovered they were free to comment, and wow, they have! It was hilarious watching political people opining on TV yesterday and use the word ‘blog’ like it was something that was distasteful.
Thing is, people are talking, nothing like a good ruckus to clear the air a bit.
There was a small shift yesterday, one step in many to help get us in this country communicating with each other instead of just at each other. Blogs are known by media, by political parties, by bloggers and have been for a few years - understanding how much power to facilitate communication or move a political machine in Canada remains to be seen. Ottawa is a pretty far away place for everyone except people in Ottawa.
Something shifted on a grass root level, and if actions can follow words that’s a plus.

I soften a little on Garth when I imagine him as a performance artist… otherwise I’m thinkin’, there’s no whore like an old whore.
