The Globe and Mail has the story on the United Churh of Canada’s 10.5 million dollar ad campaign, done by outside agencies and aimed at two targets.

The 30-45 age group and United Church members.

They are hitting all forms of media, including the web with a site called WonderCafe.ca.

I commend the United Church for a press release they put out the other day in conjunction with Phone Busters. There is a fraud campaign targeting people in the US, using the United Church as a front. According to the release, 6 people are known to have been contacted, if the largest protestant church in Canada can care about 6, I think they can handle a multi-media ad campaign.

Upate: The news coverage generated so much traffic WonderCafe ran into server problems today:

Administrators Message
WE WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO CENSORSHIP ON WONDERCAFE.CA.
Due to server errors with massive amounts of traffic at site launch today, posts or profiles posted between 12pm and 2pm today may have been lost. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The site is solid and backed up and no more posts will be lost.
Thanks very much for your continued support.

Two United Church bloggers, FollowingFrodo and looking back…looking forward are pleased with the campaign kickoff.
