Journal of Ruth has found a very useful blog for people that have left the Pentecostal movement.

When one initially leaves Pentecostalism, it is a bitter cup to drink to admit that we were fooled and that we believed in something so stupid.

I lost count of the number of times I’ve felt so fucking stupid to have fallen for the lies and manipulation, and also felt so ashamed of the stupid things I’ve done that a) hurt people b) scared some silly

There are excellent books available, but there are also excellent blogs from people who have dealt with moving into mainstream orthodoxy. It’s a process, and one that someone doesn’t have to go through alone.

It is so important for church goers to understand they often leave not because they’ve lost their faith, but in order to preserve it. It is also important for them to begin to understand safety and respect, while working through tough feelings, guilt, experiences and loss.
