ar arr arrr! This is as much fun as independent fundamentalist Baptist forums getting upset about, well, everything.
Slice of Laodicea, a blog for a radio talk show off the US VCY network, works very hard to keep religious people in line, and tick everyone off to attract consumers of it’s products. Whatever works to get the numbers.
A ’lava prayer lamp’ has a Slice blog poster in an uproar - and the commenters get themselves lathered up. A normal day at the radio blog, on a slow news day over the holidays. A virtual prayer lava lamp from emerging church - creative, ambient - garners comments like this:
- Sending prayer up in a bubble - - - think of how that must grieve the Holy Spirit.
- Imagine sitting in the Emergent “worship circle” with a lava lamp in the middle, as the “worshipers” smoke marijuana while in “dialogue” about the sexual escapades in and out of the church.
- tried to figure out if the website in question were some kind of gag…Surely they couldn’t be serious about a lava lamp! Alas, from the things I saw, they appear to be serious. But very appropriate for an Emergent website; lava lamps don’t give a lot of light, suck up a lot of energy, and only look interesting if your brain is half shut-down.
- “There is One mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus” - 1 Tim. 2:5 Anybody see the words “lava lamp” in that verse? Read your Bible!
- If you’re into this spiritual idolatry then you’d best enjoy the chill now. Take some sage advice and get out of th Emergent Church. For this new cult of liberal theology itself is on the broad religious road which only leads straight to the fires of Hell itself.
Don’t know about you, but that ’left the impression of an army of pompous phrases moving over the landscape in search of an idea.’ (author unknown)
