British Columbia’s Ministry of Children and Family Development  has said it is prepared to step in and get temporary guardianship of sextuplets born in Vancouver last week if the babies require blood transfusions. While the parents have been able to stay out of the media spotlight, they have said they are Jehovah’s Witnesses. There are 1, 325 Jehovah Witnesses congregations in Canada with 111 thousand members.

Practitioners of Falun Gong in Canada are prepared to take their battle with the CRTC to parliament. They have been fighting a decision to allow nine Chinese TV channels (dubbed the Great Wall Package) offered by the state-owned China International Television Corporation. Falun Gong is considered a cult in China and Canadian practitioners fear Chinese channels will “incite hatred and instill fanatic communist patriotism.”
