CTV runs Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show and The Colbert Report after the weekly nightly news and I started watching them because I didn’t bother changing the channel.

It takes awhile to get the inside edgy humour of the two shows, Stewart takes on the news while Colbert takes on personality driven personalities opinion shows.  I admire Colbert’s ability to stay in character. His show is premised on spoofing O’Reilly (papa bear) and I suppose I am like many viewers: it was an opportunity to watch a comedian and a pundit do their schick together. No laugh track, I don’t think their appearances ware meant to be played for laughs, although there were a couple. The icy tension between the two is apparent more in Colbert’s appearance on O’Reilly, and I think boos and hisses aside, O’Reilly handled his time on The Colbert Report well, considering it wasn’t his audience.

What became unintentionally funny to me was the Fox News analysis after Steven Colbert appeared on O’Reilly’s show. Did Bernie Golberg mean to trash the 18-34 demographic? You can run the risk of coming off like a doofus.:^) If nothing else, the generation gap is showing.
