Starting a blog or a blog movement these days can be a real pain.

Cross media representation doesnt hurt - for a few days.

The Victory Caucus, a Republican venture touted as ’an advocacy group designed to counter the anti-war MoveOn.org,’  has a board of directors with blogging biggies such as Hugh Hewitt, Frank Gaffney and Ed Morrisey . Looks like this start up has had it’s 15 minutes of fame.

Once the pro war site was set up, linked up by various people such as the Pajamas  Media bloggers, and dutifully hyped by Instapundit, other media venues such as Fox News followed through.
Then the numbers tanked.

One commenter at Salon thought it was silly of the The Victory Caucus to have it’s Site Meter open to public inspection. I disagree. Transparency is a good thing, even if it does open you up to inspection and mockery. After all it’s a perpetual election cycle and in a political  blogging war, numbers matter. So what if you have to generate your own hype.

That doesn’t look much like a Victory Arc. What it actually looks like is that someone found a corpse, hooked it up to an EKG machine, injected it with a single high-powered electrical jolt, screamed about the resulting miracle of the moving corpse’s re-birth, tricked gullible journalists into writing about the miracle, and then immediately abandoned the corpse again, allowing it to return to its peaceful, quiet death.

I think people are getting a bit burned out on this level of online political discourse:

What is the driving force of the Leftinistra? I have made several assessments on this question and the most probable root influence is that they are indeed a band of Socialists. They were defeated during the Cold War which, we won by not firing a shot…openly. The example of the perfect society went down when the Berlin Wall finally came crashing down. The Leftinistra will deny this, naturally but, denying it won’t make it not true. The Leftinistra pretty much have a strangle hold on the Democratic Party and they have infiltrated the Republican Party. Snoopy - Victory Caucus Forum (correction: the forum members name is not Snoopy, it’s Snooper - that’s a Freudian typo I’m leaving up! Snooper doesn’t seem to know the difference between socialism and communism)

Heh.
