This is rather funny. It is no secret many Blogging Tories have an obsession with MP Garth Turner. For some reason a few feel they would not be welcome at Turner’s Town Hall meetings and posted this at Free Dominion.

We must be out in force at his meetings to remind people of his past. The fact that HE VOTED TO TAX INCOME TRUSTS is apparently not important to him. We must remind the public that he called those who oppose SSM the Christian Taliban.

We need to remind the public why there must never be a Liberal Government again, and why it is best to demolish the Liberal Party in the next election. The locations and dates and times are as follows. PM me for some literature on Mr Turner that can be handed out or put on cars at these meetings.

They then listed the Town Hall meetings. Garth Turner has a funny post of a blogging Torie attending a meeting. Turner uses MPtv all the time, he has made it clear he isn’t banning anyone from Town Hall meetings even if they stick their video camera in citizens faces.

Nathan Macmillan’s assignment Wednesday night was to get himself to the Queensville Community Centre, there by the ball diamond, and expose my Town Hall meeting. He didn’t quite make it on time, but by halfway through my presentation, he was videotaping with a vengeance.

By the time QP started with the small but robust crowd, Nathan was on his feet, shooting directly into people’s faces. Are you from the CBC?, I asked. “No,” he said. “I’m from the Blogging Tories.”

I looked up, and noticed Nathan’s overbearing presence was missing. But so was my assistant and commander, Esther. Then I noticed shadows of the two of them in a doorway at the back of the room. Mildly worried she was beating the crap out of him, I carried on. Several minutes later, they both emerged. I was relieved to see he could still walk.

Later Esther would tell me she did not demand the BT commando to leave the meeting, but did ask his name, which he gave. He also volunteered it was wrong for me, a Liberal MP, to invade the riding of a Conservative, in order to hold a public meeting.

Free Dominion and Blogging Tories haven’t shown up to subsequent meetings, I’m not sure what they were looking fir or expecting but I guess they aren’t finding it. They are getting flack in the Canadian political blogosphere for their belief MP’s shouldn’t enter another MP’s riding for Town Halls. I’ve covered politics for years, MP’s show up in each other’s riding’s all the time. It’s called democracy.

Free Republic is a conservative/Reform site run by  two Conservative Party activists. Connie Wilkins is the conservative riding vice-president for Kingston and the Islands. Her fellow forum owner is Mark Fournier.  The wiki entry is informative, the forum has attracted a few contributors from the far far right, and the booting out of a campaign manager, Gordon Stamp for expressing view on Alberta Separatism made news.
