If you are travelling through Kentucky this summer, you might want to stop by the new 27 million dollar Christian Entertainment Centre called The Creation Museum. Many of the exhibits were designed by a former Disney/Universal guy, and the grounds are said to be lovely.
This is not about science, it’s a belief called creationism.* The exhibit is the brainchild of  Answers In Genesis, a young eath non-profit religious group that believes the bible is inerrant and literal - so from their viewpoint, the earth is about 6 thousand years old. From AP:
Lawrence Krauss, an author and physicist at Cleveland’s Case Western Reserve University, decided to view the museum firsthand.
“It’s really impressive — and it really gives the impression that they’re talking about science at some point,” Krauss said. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being best, “I’d give it a 4 for technology, 5 for propaganda. As for content, I’d give it a negative 5.”
The cost is reasonable, if you want to brush up on some science before you show up, here are 10 things you won’t hear during your visit.
*A 2001 US Gallup Poll asked responders to chose from three statements: 45% of respondents chose “God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so.” The percentage hasn’t varied much since Gallup began asking the question in 1982.
