I thought this was a joke.
It’s not. This gentleman, Larry Kilgore is running for governor of Texas. His mission statement:
My first priority as governor will be to submit to Biblical law given to us by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. My job, according to 1st Peter 2:14, will be to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
Some of the ways he wants to achieve that:
1-40 lashes for crime of maliciousness, like graffiti, porn, strip clubs.
* Execution for crime of murder including abortion. (Exodus 21:12, 21:22-23)
* Execution for crime of adultery. (Leviticus 20:10)
* Execution for crime of homosexual acts. (Leviticus 20:13)
* Execution for crime of deadly negligence, like a DWI fatality. (Exodus 21:29)
* Texans should become independent then stop paying US taxes. $123B
* Texas should secede because the US has sealed its doom.
* Illegal immigrants should receive a minimum punishment of five lashes, $3,000 fine & deportation. via: Pam’s House Blend
Kilgore has a quiz about whether or not you are going to heaven or hell. It’s stacked, no matter what way you do it, you are going to hell. It looks like something Landmark Baptist or Lark News would put up. The quiz is the little box at the top, Do you consider yourself to be a good person. It’s put out by a group called Living Waters.
While Kilgore is running for gov, three men were arrested and will be charged with terrorism (federal crime. If convicted they face 99 years behind bars) According to the Forth Worth Telegram they attempted to bomb Victory Family Church because it isn’t Christian enough.
Cmdr. Chris Havens, the Police Department spokesman, said the suspects boasted about belonging to a leaderless group of 10 or 15 who share a belief that society has become too focused on self-improvement and self-gratification and has lost focus on the glorification of God.
“They admit to being Christian and being brought up Christian, but they believe there should be one denomination and one church, not multiple denominations,” Havens said.
“They did not say they had a name for their group, other than they were a radical Christian activist group. That was the way they explained their group,” he said.
The suspects said the group has three levels of involvement: Bible study, consensual fighting and destructive acts. Because one of their beliefs is free thought, however, participation in all three levels is not mandatory, they told police.
The three admitted to being in a core group of seven that created the explosive weapon as a test to draw attention to the demise of society and to see whether the device would work, Havens said.
“They believe that the past generations have accumulated trash and are responsible for making younger generations clean up their mess,” he said. “They’re trying to make a statement and get society’s attention regarding that.”
That’s why two of the men said they were involved in an earlier fire in a recycling bin at CentrePoint Church on Alsbury Road, Singleton said. That fire burned the materials in the bin but did not damage the church, he said.
This is going to become more common, when Jerry Falwell died a Liberty University student was found with explosives, Mark D. Url was planning on bombing protesters at the funeral.
Another odd story - a law student is suing because he failed his bar exam in Massachusetts. He says they had a question about homosexuality and he refused to answer it because it violates his faith. Ed Brayton has the exam, the law suit and the details.
Jesus governs, Jesus bombs and Jesus sues? Don’t think so.
Published 1 year, 6 months agoBut what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
Legalism is helpless in bringing this about; it only gets in the way. Among those who belong to Christ, everything connected with getting our own way and mindlessly responding to what everyone else calls necessities is killed off for good—crucified. Galatians 5: 22-24 The Message
