Credit where credit is due.

A couple of days ago I noticed WorldMag blog had a post up about the Sinclair family/Arlington High Point Church. I’d been following coverage around online, interested in how writers handled their opinion pieces. In parts of the US the story of the Sinclair’s and the church has been primarily political over Christian.

I clicked over to the piece at World Magazine and noticed an error just off the top.

Mistakes happen.
I left a comment at the blog and sort of forgot about it. It was a factual people mistake, and I thought better of forgetting about it. If anything this story has been a lesson for me in church culture and dehumanization.

I headed back to the magazine and blog yesterday, the blog post comments had slid downhill. The derogatory term for commenters is worldmagkids, coined if I recall correctly by someone who used to manage it. Thing is, they aren’t kids, they are adults. Even under new management, the blog post comment section was one of the worst I’ve seen. There are times Worldmagblog commenters make The Fighting Fundamentalist Forums look like angels. The comment I’d left was a waste of time and effort.

So I emailed the magazine.
It’s the bread and butter, not the blog.

I got a prompt, professional and courteous response from an editorial assistant.

I headed over today, the mistake in Marvin Olasky’s piece has not been fixed. I doubt it can/will be fixed in the print edition. It also exists at Townhall. A commenter at Townhall made the correct connection, but it was ignored.
Ah well.

An assistant at World Magazine did their job and it’s appreciated.
