Craig Chandler has announced he running for the Conservative Party in Alberta. He wants to be the MLA for Calgary Egmont. This is the picture on his campaign site. It saved for upload with the caption ‘wanna fight.’

He wants people to know he has a solid business foundation in Alberta and that he is a proud supporter of Focus on the Family.
He also wants people to know that they’d better get with the Conservative program in Alberta or get out. Leave.
Alberta is growing in a way that was never expected and many of the people coming here do not truly appreciate Alberta or even understand the history of this province or the relationship with the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party. To those of you who have come to our great land from out of province, you need to remember that you came here to our home and we vote conservative. You came here to enjoy our economy, our natural beauty and more. This is our home and if you wish to live here, you must adapt to our rules and our voting patterns, or leave. Conservatism is our culture. Do not destroy what we have created.
Conservativism is our culture.
Oh.
And if the people of Alberta and the people coming to Alberta don’t get your message Mr. Chandler, then what?
Turns out Chandler is from Ontario. Chandler went to McMaster and was involved in the Reform Party. He takes credit on his website for helping in the merger of Alliance and Progressive Conservatives as a founding member of Unite the Right.
When he ran for The Reform Party in 1993 in Ontario just days before the election his campaign manager committed suicide. There was an investigation and Chandler was certainly cleared, but in making a choice not to reveal his managers death until after the election, many people found his choice to do so odd.
I did mention he is a proud promoter of the US based group Focus on the Family. I have to be honest, I’ve never met a Canadian evangelical minister or politican who was proud of admitting that choice.
They obviously exist, but have not done well in the public political arena in Canada.
He is also a founder of Concerned Christians of Canada. (a for profit group of social conservatives seeking to get ’evangelicals’ elected, combating secular humanism, moral relativism, liberalism) I mentioned Chandler in passing in a post on Canada’s religious neo-conservatives a year ago.
This is a group that takes and uses the familiar US fundamentalist rhetoric of North American Christians being persecuted and marginalized. His endorsement page is a good indication of his circle of friends. Craig Chandler’s Freedom Radio Network show page:
Warning: If you are driving while listening to this radio show, we recommend wearing your seat belt. Be prepared for hard hitting, truthful, blunt talk and solutions for what ails our cities, towns, province and country. You may even want to refrain from sipping your coffee while driving as you may laugh, get enraged or be so excited that we are on the air that you spill your coffee on your shirt, blouse, pants or dress. Please note we are not responsible for dry cleaning costs or car damage.
Oh.
It is up to the citizens of Alberta to make their choices.
