Two articles on blogging worth taking a look at. Ted Olsen over at Christianity Today’s Liveblog mentions that there are about 100 million blogs, but 200 million people have started and quit a blog.

Interesting he didn’t mention the dismal lack of interest in the GodBlogCon, or as Richard Hall of connexions now calls this conference going into it’s third year - ConGodBlogCon.

Koby over at Blogs Canada E-Group looks at political blogging in Canada, the parasitic nature of blogs and the lack of utilization by political parties.

In order for the parties to effectively utilize the blogsephere and in particular the various partisan sites, the parties are going have go out of their way to draw the attention of the media to them. This can be accomplished in a number of different ways, but two come readily to mind. By leaking first to the blogs, a la Stephen Taylor, and later to the media the Liberals can draw media attention to the blogsephere and particular blogs. The same thing can be achieved by granting interviews to selected bloggers.

Interesting Koby mentioned the NDP bloggers. When Robert McClelland had something controversial on his site (he has worked as hard as anyone out there to promote NDP blogs) the party didn’t extend him the courtesy of contacting him - instead he was trashed in MSM.
