I get a fair amount of religious spam in comments and emails and it all comes from the US. It may be partly my fault, I’ve wondered if complaining to Lifeway (the publishing arm of the SBC) got me stuck on lists.
That having been said I’ve been getting a rather funny comment spam that is polite and uses guilt. Very US evangelical. I give Christianity Today credit. When I received what I thought was comment spam from the company about a year and a half ago and passed it on to Spero News, it didn’t happen again. Small price to pay for a laugh at my expense.
Guilt doesn’t work on me very well; flattery and ”I’m sure you’ll comment on my site” isn’t going to make me head over and comment on an obviously commercial site. Ah well.
Couple of things.

Paul Potts, the winner of Britain’s Got Talent is going to be on CBC’s The Hour tomorrow (Tuesday) 11 pm.
With parliament re-opening and all the punditry about the Throne speech ready to suck Tuesday’s air out of the room, this is as good a way to keep one’s sanity as any. Potts has been busy with his debut CD release, a whirlwind tour including New Zealand and Hong Kong. His site hasn’t even kept up.
While I’ve complained about George Stroumboulopoulos being way too hyper, it will be interesting to see if he simmers down to let his shy guest go his own pace. The Hour airs on CBC 11 pm and re-airs on CBC Newsworld. Paul Potts fans can check Newsworld listings here.

Beliefnet is running an interesting dialogue between some good religion/political observers and writers and for those of us who are Revealer writer fans, there are some familar people. Evangelicals in Power roundtable is running the gamut from Jeff Sharlet to Jerry Jenkins (Left Behind), moderated by Patton Dodd.
Swansea University recently hosted Archbishop Rowan Williams. The lecture turn out was excellent, and while his remarks on Richard Dawkins made good media coverage it’s much more interesting to read the blog of one of the Uni’s Chaplain Office staff.
My friend Richard Hall of connexions weighs in.
