An IT employee of R.G. Mitchell Family Books (a Toronto Christian book distribution company) made his first court appearance yesterday.
Rick Wilde is charged with first degree murder in the Thursday death of one of his two daughters.

The North York man walked to 33 Division of the Toronto Police force shortly after 10 pm and turned himself in.
Reports vary on whether his wife and older daughter were in the home at the time.  
Police found his 8 year old daughter Megan strangled in her bedroom.

The family attended a none denominational  evangelical church called Don Valley Bible Chapel which has a multi-ethnic congregation of about 200. There is no statement of faith on the church website.  
The church site links to Saddleback and Willowcreek Churches, Focus on the Family, Campus Crusade for Christ and other familiar US evangelical sites.
A chapel spokesman says the Wilde family had been members for 10 years.

The former leader is listed as a board member for Asia Mission Center International.

The congregation is looking for a new minister and listed for one with Vision Ministries Canada on October 17th, the day before the murder.
Employees at R. G. Mitchell say Rick Wilde was at work Tuesday.
Early news reports mentioned Wilde was being treated for bi-polar disorder.

Media reports say the Wilde family also had a Facebook page which contained a lot of links to religious groups.  They had rented their townhouse for over a dozen years, neighbours say they were  quiet, nice, friendly and the girls were well known and popular in their neighbourhood. A church member attended Wildes preliminary appearance.

Megan is survived by her 10 year old sister Mariah and her mother Karen. The mother and daughter are staying with friends and the church has asked the family’s privacy be respected. There is no word on when Megan will be buried.

Wilde will make another court appearance November 1st.
There is an evidence publication ban on his bail hearing.
