Over the last few weeks, we’ve been shutting down our operations and preparing our final financial statements. As our subscribers will soon discover, we’ve made arrangements with Maclean’s magazine to fulfill part of our outstanding obligations to our readers — every Western Standard subscriber will get six free issues of Maclean’s. That’s six more Mark Steyn columns! Maclean’s will also give our subscribers a special offer if they want to continue receiving the magazine. Every subscriber will soon get more information directly from Maclean’s.

We’ve sold the Western Standard websites — including the .ca site and this blog — to a handful of our original team who want to make a go of it online. I’ll probably blog from time to time just for fun, but I’ll be moving on to other projects.

The internet operations are being taken over by two long term staffers, the corporation that owns the Western Standard brand will remain in existance while Levant deals with a Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship complaint filed against the magazine in February 2006. The complaint moves into the investigative process next month. The print edition started in 2004 and closed down in October.
