Brenda Martin has been found guilty of money laundering. She has been fined over 3 thousand dollars and sentenced to five years.
Money laundering convictions in Mexico can lead to 15 years imprisonment.  Her friend,  Waterloo businesswoman Deb Tieleman was in the court room when the sentence was handed down; she has almost single handedly brought this case to the attention of Canadian authorities. Tieleman had a plane ticket in her hand to bring her friend home.
