A Starlight concert at Central Heights, a Mennonite Brethren church in Abbotsford ended with a crash when the floor collapsed under concert goers Friday night.

About 1200 people were attending the concert, 40 people were taken to hospital, 3 with serious injuries.
The concert goers, mostly teens jumping up and down at the front of the stage fell several metres into the basement. The lighting scaffolding and floor in the sanctuary gave way about 9:20 pm according to BCLocalNews.

Some of the people who fell through the floor reported that they felt the floor starting to “bounce” and move just before the collapse.

The concert was attended by a crowd estimated at 1,200 – most of them teens, and some families.

There was some dancing in front of the stage, but it was not too rambunctious, according to a security guard at the event.

“We’re a Mennonite Church here – we don’t mosh,” he said.

Due to the extensive damage at the church, we will be meeting at Columbia Bible College Gymnasium, April 27 10:00 am (1 service).
All mid-week programs are cancelled for the week of April 28 to May 4.
