Republican Southern Baptists

If you are a Southern Baptist minister in the US, odds are you are going to vote Republican.
Voting otherwise doesn’t appear to be a denominational career starter.

A Lifeway (the business end of the denomination) study found 80% of their ministers will vote for John McCain.
1 percent of SBC ministers will vote Democrat, (0% for Hillary Clinton), 4% will vote independent and 15% of SBC ministers surveyed had the common sense not to tell Lifeway who they plan to vote for. (undecided)

The Lifeway Research survey also looked at beliefs of leadership about climate change global warming and euthenasia.
Big Daddy Weave:

Back in 1998 during an interview with the New York Times, Richard Land – perhaps the most visible Southern Baptist leader over the past 20 years – said this about the relationship between the Religious Right and the Republican Party:

“No more engagement. We want a wedding ring, we want a ceremony, we want a consummation of the marriage.”

10 years later, it’s clear that Dick got what he so desperately desired.

Lifeway Research has clearly revealed that the marriage has been consummated.

The Wedding Bells Done Rung. The Honeymoon is Over.

Apparently not many Southern Baptist pastors remember the wise words of the late Carl F. Henry, a hero to men like Al Mohler, who often declared that there exists “no direct route from the Bible to the Ballot Box.

My gosh, what do they use the data for…the congregants aren’t told how their pastor votes are they. LOL, yes I realize it must be private, I hope.

It is an odd thing for denominational headquarters to ask their ministers isn’t it?

I wonder what they use the information for?

from my point of view these folks dont have a clue who jesus was and what he taught

he was unpatroitic did not believe in nationalism said give unto rome what is rome’s, and took on the church leaders of his day.

he also said love your enemies and after 9/11 we all saw who that went

we americans wanted revenge even if we had to attack the wrong country that had nothing to do with 9/11

if jesus came back to earth the very people that claim to be his followers would try to destroy him

from my comments one would think I was an atheist but that is not correct still working on the judgmental thing though.
