The complex and awkward subject of Christian Zionism — which causes division within both Judaism and evangelicalism — was highlighted last year by the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, which represents 2.5 million conservative Protestants. The Canadian umbrella organization widely distributed an article in which Christian Zionist Jim Hutchens accused a group of moderate U.S. evangelicals of “appalling ignorance” for supporting Bush’s two-state peace proposal of separate nations for Palestinians and Israelis.
…In Canada, the most high-profile champion of Christian Zionism is Charles McVety, president of Canada Christian College in Ontario, head of the Defend Marriage Coalition and leader of Ottawa’s new Institute for Canadian Values. Even though McVety is a Conservative party supporter, no political polling exists that I’m aware of about whether Canada’s evangelicals, who make up almost 10 per cent of the population, agree with his views about the state of Israel or Judgment Day.
Canadian evangelicals, as a group, tend to be more moderate than their American cousins. But the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s recent messages to adherents make clear the future of the state of Israel remains a live and sensitive issue for conservative Protestants north of the border
The EFC at the same time sent out a related article that offered evangelicals pointers on how to respectfully befriend Jews in hopes of converting them to Jesus Christ. In publishing the articles, however, the EFC says it doesn’t necessarily endorse such views.Jews On First has an excellent look at zionist John Haggee and his CUFI organization.
Media was barred from the CUFI Washington get together this year.Saying the coverage at last year’s summit was “intrusive,” Christians United for Israel is barring media attendance at the four-day event in Washington except on Tuesday.
“CUFI received complaints last year that the press was intrusive and that their presence inhibited free discussion,” said Ronn Torossian, a spokesman for the organization. “CUFI wants to create a more intimate and open setting this year, which will be more beneficial to our members and core audience.”
(John Hagee Ministries Canada are headquartered at McVety’s Toronto Canada Christian College) The College will be offering a course The Department of Modern Israel this fall.

I feel the same way. I can’t believe that Christians aren’t speaking out about the things that are being done in their name.
Evangelicals don’t denounce Hagee because many of us agree with him, many know deep down in their hearts that he is right, and many more fear that he might be right.
I had hoped that someone would take the time to discredit Emily Dee and the likes of her. Oh, wait! Sorryyyyy. That is what NON Christians, luke warm Christians, and Christians in name only do: discredit people.
True Christians know that ALL people have failings. Besides, true Christians are too busy to keep harping about everything their enemies are doing, they are sowing seeds of faith and harvesting souls for Jesus Christ.
Hagee has unfortunately descended so far into deception and idolatry he doesn’t believe Jewish people need the Messiah for salvation any more, as he stated in his book. I don’t know how he reconciles that with the fact that Jesus came to the lost sheep of Israel, and that He died for them, or that the gospel is to the Jew first and then the gentile, but oh well, there are a lot of people who think they are Christians but who are making up their own religion as they go along. And I agree there should be lots of discussion and warnings about such folk since they are leading many astray.
To me Hagee stands as a clear example of where mixing faith and politics leads. Isn’t this the yeast of Herod that Jesus warned us about? Exhalted in the eyes of the world (for a season), but right down the toilet as far as the gospel and salvation are concerned. The harlot church only gets to ride the beast for a while, until the beast turns on her.
