Her name is Yang Peiyi

By now the billion or so of us that watched the opening of the Beijing Olympics know the firework footprints were CGI – a computer image of the real ones. We know the reasons China did what they did.

Now we know the little girl who sang the Hymn to the Motherland wasn’t on stage in the stadium.

Yang Peiyi was the pre-recorded voice for the song, but not the face we saw.  Why?
Yang Peiyi doesn’t look perfect, she has buck teeth.

Chinese Olympic officials bowed to the wishes of their politicians who wanted a perfect looking child.
9 year Lin Miaoke was chosen to be the face for the song and to give the world the media interviews.

At least they chose a girl, girls are not valued in what is really two China’s, the old and the new; both of which are real and both of which are puzzling to none-Chinese.

Lin Miaoke, the little girl in the red dress who lip synched is a charmer, but so is Yang Peiyi.
I thought only Americans were obsessed with perfect teeth. I was wrong.
