Americans in Calgary are being invited to fork out 1 thousand dollars a plate in a Republican fundraiser.
For a thousand dollars they get to listen to Senator Sam Brownback. The Galloping Beaver has the details.
The International Rescue Committee, an aid group which has worked in Afghanistan for over 20 years has suspended operations in the country. 40 year old Jacqueline Kirk of Montreal, a British-Canadian citizen and 30 year old Shirley Case from BC were brutally killed 50 miles south of Kabul. Nicole Dial, 30 of Trinidad-Tobago and their unarmed 25 year old Afghan driver Mohammad Aimal were also killed. This was the second attack on IRC workers this year.
There have been 84 attacks on aids groups in 2008, 19 workers have been killed.
Georgia itself, my friends, has a long and remarkable history. It was a fourth-century convert to Christianity, one of the first nations on Earth to convert to Christianity — if you go to Georgia, as I have several times, you’ll see churches that go back to the fourth- and fifth-century — and it’s been a part of the grand sweep that comprises Western civilization.
Nations can’t convert, only individuals can chose to follow Jesus Christ.

Joshua’s dad thinks his son’s entry for the new CBC Hockey Night in Canada music theme is the best, and he’d like you to vote.
Looking for a good Olympics blog?
Richard Hall is settling into his new home, and the normally busy blog connexions has been quieter than usual.
Cre8-design’s blog has been quiet for awhile. That is partly due to the arrival of their son Friday. Mom, dad and baby are doing great.
Joe Carter of The Evangelical Outpost won’t be attending the GodBlogCon this year, he’s busy launching an online magazine for Republicans Christians conservatives. Christian-friendly culture/politics zine- Townhall meets World Magazine perhaps?
Joe was a founder of GodBlogCon, and has experience with zines, having helped World Magazine start their blogs which became a blog.
Speakers and sponsors are dutifully blogging the event, I counted 10 posts. Sad.That’s a far cry from three years ago.
Joe Carter worked for Mike Huckabee’s presidental campaign and I don’t see his name at The Family Research Council anymore.
The GodBlogCon is being held in Vegas again September 20-21st. Andrew Jones of Tall Skinny Kiwi is the odd man out in the speaker lineup this year, but then again, what do I know.
Focus on the Family shot itself in the foot when it yanked a video asking for imprecatory prayer for the Democratic Convention. Amazingly some supporters of FotF actually complained about the clip by Stuart Shepard called Pray for Rain. FotF tried to pull the video, which just doesn’t work, and then tried to say it was just humour. Taking Stuart Shepard at his word (he was going for funny) lets see, how can I say this gently, um…Stuart Shepard is never going to be Jon Stewart.

Glenn Penner has started a private blog.
It’s not about him as CEO of Voice of the Martyers, it’s about the return of his cancer. It’s a far more reflective, gentler place than the Persecuted Church blog, and it’s powerful, real and a reminder for me at least, to pray.
Continue to uphold us in your prayers. Facing one’s mortality or the mortality of one’s loved one is never easy. I have no idea how much time I have. Could be a few years. Could be many. But I want them to count. This is why I decided not to spend them fighting to stay alive. There is more to life than fighting for life.
