This is a comment prelude to the Fresh Fire Statement at Northwest Musings:
“Here is some info, but according to what we have heard from several sources, this is much more than just an emotional relationship. According to staff And former staff members, they claim that Todd is a pathological liar. The board privately has said that Todd has been lying to them all along. We are praying for those around Todd to demand for him to get the help he needs before thrusting him back into ministry like they did 2.5 years ago when he had an affair with a different staff member. We are praying for Todd, his family, along with others that have been impacted through this”.
Thousands of people have finally figured that out. They been duped, conned and taken by this man and his staff (as in the case of any ministry where leadership operates by their own set of rules).
While I think some members of this ‘board’ are surprised, they did not speak up when they were (literally) selling undoctrinal material.
They did not speak up when lies went around the world.
Unconfessed sin leads to more sin.

Lee Grady, sigh. The inside reporter admitting there were Lakeland problems from the get go, now baffled? Don’t think so, sir. It is called sin.
Doris Wagner, this is not about ‘defending’ your husband, excuses and blaming others.It is called sin.
God TV. You call fellow Christians demonics, it is not ‘unfortunate circumstances’, it is called sin.
Chuck Pierce, is not about more covenant help from you, your unholy product you peddle and your Kabbalah mysticism. It is called sin.
Patricia King, it is not about repeating lies or even making a few more up (satanic rituals around the Lakeland tent? Not according to Lakeland Police) it is not about portals, angels, anointings and blaming. It is called sin.
Stephen Strader, it was your turf, your alliances, your show. You could have pulled the plug. The BBC camped on your doorstep is a good thing. I hope the producers put together a stark expose, with plenty of compassion for the people who looked to you as shepard and left broken.
I agree with Dan at Cerulean Sanctum that if Charisma Magazine has 12 ads next month the magazine and the advertisers should be ashamed of themselves.
GodTV, Strang Communication, Ignited,(Lakeland) (C. Peter Wagner, Global Harvest Ministries) various and sundry groups and networks of New Apostolic Reformation ‘apostles’ did not speak up over blatant extra biblical teaching, televised abuse of others, fraud, hype, pride, and lies.
No one spoke up until the money was made.
Where did that money go?
There was no disclosure from the Fresh Fire 18 listed associates, no correction, no leaving to affiliate with a healthy, transparent organization.

For years behavior any follower of Jesus Christ would recognize and speak up against has been covered up and swept under the rug of ‘judge not’ or ‘touch not my anointed’ by these parachurch media organizations, usurpers, and when personal failings were found out by followers, leaders were ‘forgiven’ and allowed to carry on.
These are a group of hierarchical organizations and independent churches who see questioning their leadership as tantamount to disbelief and sin against God.
They have carefully worked to exploit the splits in the body of Christ, playing the us/them card over and over.
And the reality is they will do it again. The spin and twisting that has come out of neo-pentecostal/charismatic network leaders would be funny if so many people had not been harmed, as they have been harmed for years. People’s lives have been wrecked, and we have no one but ourselves to blame if we continue to allow leadership to play their power games, foist their foibles off on others, teach lies and spout their false prophecies.
Their spin and concerns are hollow to Mrs. Bentley and her children.
Their spin and concerns are hollow to the families of those who have died believing one more charlatan. Whether self-proclaimed leaders clean their own house is up to them.
Bentley was a local story really, even though a New York PR firm pitched in. The local US outlet, the Lakeland Ledger did it’s job, a few religious outlets did rewrites, and The Vancouver Sun and The Province ran a rehash of the work the Lakeland Ledger religion editor did.
AP, Fox and ABC asked questions no one had any intention of answering.
Prior coverage of Bentley in Canada has been meager. The facts were out, people choosing to live in their ‘more Lord’ bubble are free to live in that bubble.
Apart from a fluff piece in Christian Week and a few puff columns by ministers in regional papers, media isn’t going to waste resources acquiescing to the latest breathless fraudulent pronouncement.
Interestingly the latest Fresh Fire release landed in my inbox from concerned pentecostals and charismatics this morning, from Australia, Canada, the US.
They are fed up, they are the ones who have to mop up, called not to be in a spotlight, but to walk beside the wounded. And the wounded are many.
Wisdom is justified for her children.
Will more come out?
No doubt, but if warnings weren’t enough years ago, weeks ago, this week, today, people remain ripe for confusion, for the next con.
Chose this day who you will serve. Every day we affirm that choice. I see no purpose in giving the leadership of The Revival Alliance (NAR etc) platforms to bury us in their denials, their disengious power plays, their pleas for support. There is work to do and it starts on our knees.
Frankly I’d like to see Fresh Fire audited by Canada Revenue, not because their star had an affair, but because of complicity in what I’ve mentioned above.
The body of Christ would not be poorer on any level if the Fresh Fire charity status was yanked, and those few perhaps called to ministry can step back, repent and get on with the work of the Kingdom honestly, transparently, in right relationship and as servants.

The Board of Fresh Fire Ministries has released a statement apologizing for thier last statement and release information about Bentley’s behavior. It is unlikely this is Todd Bentley’s first affair according to some sources (not in the official email) They also assure supporters Bentley who has been with Fresh Fire since 1998 is no longer head of Fresh Fire Ministries.
We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. In light of this new information and in consultation with his leaders and advisors, Todd Bentley has agreed to step down from his position on the Board of Directors and to refrain from all public ministry for a season to receive counsel in his personal life.
On behalf of the Fresh Fire leadership and the Board of Directors we wish to apologize to our friends and partners and to the larger body of Christ and to ask for your forgiveness. We are truly sorry for the pain many of you must feel and so regret that in the midst of great revival, the enemy has found a way into our camp. To those who have stood by us, we wish to thank you for what in many cases has been years of support. Thank you for your financial giving towards the vision of this ministry, and thank you especially for your prayers. For those of our partners, friends and supporters who may be struggling with the recent disclosures and finding continued support of this ministry in conflict with either conscience or conviction, we release and bless you with all our hearts and trust that God will redeem in your hearts the good that He has accomplished in your lives through this ministry. It is our sincerest hope and prayer that the Lord bless you and bring you into your fullest destiny in Him.
When this ministry was initially birthed in May of 1998, Todd had but one simple desire in his heart – to see the world come to know Jesus. Now, only 10 years later, Fresh Fire Ministries has grown to become a Resource Center that is literally reaching out to all the corners of the Earth. There have been dozens of associate ministries, scores of interns and hundreds of graduates from the Supernatural Training Center. Over 60 nations have received a combined total of more than five million dollars in humanitarian aid and we have seen well over one million conversions for Jesus Christ.

While Todd and Shonnah each go through the necessary steps towards restoration and wholeness, we are compelled, with the resources with which God has entrusted us, to continue to spread God’s love and power all over the world.
There are many noble activities and endeavors in which Fresh Fire Ministries is involved, initiated by Todd, and to which we are still committed. We have the Supernatural Training Centre, our school of ministry, already in it’s fourth full year and with more than 50 students already enrolled we’re believing for an amazing year of biblical instruction, practical application and encounters with the presence of God. Many mature and gifted speakers and associates, graduated interns and teachers filled brim-full with the DNA and fire of this ministry are ready to pour revelation and passion into the hungry hearts of this coming year’s student body.

We are so tired as Christians as everything being hush hush and covered up when someone falls. Tell us the truth worse thing people can do is judge but others will know how to pray. Dont we deserve the truth

Not everyone is called to expose these false religious leaders, we all have responsibilities. Those that alerted me have various gifts, they don’t seek spotlights and some have paced themselves to be there to heal the wounded. Thank God for them.
I keep thinking about a Rick Mercer skit at 24 Sussex and his great line, “you aren’t the boss of me!”:^)

Many of us cried out at the beginning but our voices were drowned out. We said “the Holy Spirit would NEVER tell Todd to kick some old lady in the face with his bikker boots!” That’s Blasphemy! You all heard him say it, where is the ‘Discerning of spirits’ in that crowd that backed him? Why did YOU stay silent?
I worry about all those who have been deceived by this revival, yes, I do not blame Todd alone, every person involved in that Revival bears his shame.

Although Dutch Sheets says he never embraced Todd’s ministry, he never rejected it either. He couldn’t decide. How is it that, early on, I researched Todd’s background all the way up to date, including youtube clips of him “ministering”, and it was so clear to me? Todd didn’t use scripture a whole lot, and when he did, he kind of twisted it. And desperate people (for healings, etc.) and/or unchurched people didn’t know the difference, and they were being introduced to a “genie” Jesus. With all the glitz and hype. If there were true conversions and healings, it was those who came looking for the One TRUE Jesus, in spite of Todd. And as for impartations…I pray for all the people who “got what Todd has” and took it back to their congregations!
I saw a man with no discipline in his life…and I guess because that is so important to me in my own life…discipline and letting the Word of God teach me how to live…I look for that in a true minister of the Gospel now. Because I’ve been disillusioned too many times. And I am not blasting anybody that I wouldn’t judge myself about. I am trying to use the Word as a “mirror” to reflect what I’m supposed to grow into. Isn’t that too much to ask ministers to do?! And the rest of the body of Christ?
I did appreciate Dutch Sheets for saying that all those ministries, including his, needed to be ashamed and repent, as well as apologize to the body of Christ. That they miserably failed the church.
Todd has been used of God many times. I have seen miracles that no one could have faked. Yes he is young and zealous. He committed a terrible sin, but did not David do the same only he had sex and a child, killed her husband and married her. God said “David is a man after My own heart”. DID HE HAVE TO STOP BEING KING FOR AWHILE SO HE COULD STEP BACK AND COUNCIL START THEN APPROVED TO BE KING AGAIN. Where are the fathers to help Todd right now. Where are the mothers to help the wife in this situation. We in the church have forgotten the words repent and return back to GOD. David was even allowed to bring the Ark back and God knew what he had and would do.
God is loving and kind. He does not take his people and eat them alive like humans. Thank goodness or we would all be dead for our sins. We all commit sins. Maybe we just got so excited to see God move and were so hungry that we didn’t ask questions. I want to see God move in miracles all over the world.
I have many friends dying now of cancer and other diseases and I pray day and night for them. I ask God please bring miracles and touch their lives. We should look at the miracles and salvation and rejoice.
Yes Todd needs to step down and we need to pray for him and his family. The children are the ones hurting the most. They don’t understand it all. God can bring a man back just like David, hiding in cave, sleeping with another man’s wife and then killing the husband and marrying her. We would have killed David in the church today King or no King. He would never have been allowed to speak again and most of us would have never forgiven him.
We forget that the bible is not full of these wonderful perfect people. Moses could not go to the promise land. Samson committed suicide (yes suicide) believe it or not when he cause the city to fall on him. He ask God for one more time so he could do it and it was granted by Our Own God.
It is time for discernment in the church, but do we carry our brothers and sisters in deep prayer in our hearts. We don’t have time to prayer we just gossip about their sins. How about my sins and yours. If people knew them would we be all over the news. A cold heart to someone in pain and who needs our help to get right again is also a sin. Help our brothers and sisters. Where are the mothers and fathers? We just throw the baby out and tell him go for it without the true bible teaching. We in the church have lost most of our true teaching.
Jesus loved the woman at the well after 7 men. He saved her that day. How many do we save a day? Do we even bother to witness or just walk past the hurting and dying. It is time for our church to realize we are all humans with mistakes and yes a leader is held higher, but that does not mean he will not fall at times. We need to pick them up and council them and restore them. God said our gifts are without repentance.
In the bible it says when looking for people for the wedding to attend everyone was too busy. They had to go to the streets and byways to find them. Where are we looking? We expect them just to pop into our dead church and get saved without any help. Then we refuse to teach truth to them. We don’t want to bother with the down and out. We walk over them. They are God’s children. When will the church wake up and realize the mass of people will come from bad background, not smell great, have more problems then we can image, and be in terrible sin. We will have to deliver and teach these ones. This is the true body of our church, the ones outside trying to find someone to care. Stay in your fine buildings and miss the whole harvest. DON’T GET MESSED UP!!! Be careful someone might see you are not perfect either. OH!!!!NO!!!!!
Please realize it is time for a harvest and that is not stealing sheep from other building, but bring the lost in from the world. Tear a man down when he is at is lowest is the human way…. We do it to anyone in the spotlight and then sit back and commit our own secret sins. God still sees us…………oh no!!!!!!!

The complaints centre around extra-biblical teaching, false teaching, lying, not about God. Not about whether God heals or uses sinners.
Do some research on Third Wave/Apostolic/ IHOP etc. The links have been provided. Bentley doesn’t operate in a vaccum.
None of us would pass public scrutiny, none of us are perfect. Most of us don’t claim Branham’s mantle, practice delusions, angel worship, teach new age occult nonsense and add to the bible, all under God’s name.
Thousands have been harmed Susan. Thousands. They’ve been led astray, ripped off, lied too, let down, not fed and there has been no apology, no repentance.
Susan, very good post, you have touched some very important truths which always seem to be avoided by those who seek to pull down and tend to be ‘blinkered’ to what is happening.

Just because you have not read anything publicly does not mean he is not repentent before God Himself, which is what’s important here, the changed heart before God. Neither you or anyone else are in any safe position to assume that he is not repentant and asking God’s forgiveness. Therefore it would be more Godly and right to refrain from saying what you have no idea of knowing at this time.

By the way,
just looking at the top of this post with the clear image of ridicule and mockery towards Todd Bentley just reveals to me some of the heart of the person behind this site. It’s nothing to be proud of no matter if it’s towards someone that truly deserves it. Jesus reminds us that the greater sin is that which is in the heart. The greatest commandment is love. Can we honestly say that depiction is out of love? Come on church, let’s make God proud of us and not sink to standards that are not God’s standards.

My husband, John, and I have been in small church ministry all our married lives. When John became ill and a brain tumor was found, we watched more healing ministries than usual. We watched Tod Bentley each night while he prayed for the TV audience. We would pray for our miracle, and let God show us how we’d get it. It came through a turn around in doctors. The surgery was a success. That was our miracle. We need to remember that man looks on the outward appearance and God looks on the heart. We know our hearts were pure before God. that was all we needed to know. A Christian is one begger telling another where to find bread. Tod failed Jesus more than he failed any of us.
I’m glad to read your husband’s surgery was a success. May he continue to heal.

There is more to repentance in this situation than private repentance before God. Todd sinned publicly against a large number of Christians and against God. And the repentance that takes place must, likewise, be public. Todd needs to repent to the myriad of brothers and sisters that he “ripped off, lied to, led astray, and didn’t feed,” as Bene Diction so aptly put it. God laid out the model for repentance and making oneself right before Him when Jesus said in Matthew 5:23-24: “Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering.” Jesus made it very clear that we’re to go to those we offend and make things right before them. In fact, our offering (worship, praise, whatever) to God will not be accepted if we don’t make things right with those we’ve wronged.
You may say, “but that doesn’t need to be made public.” But I disagree. Scripture says he must right the wrongs with each and every person. A public repentance is the only way he could feasibly contact each of those individuals. Perhaps this has already happened. If so, great! If not, well, I’m just pointing out the scriptural basis for it. Whether Todd chooses to do it or not is his choice, just as it is for each of us.

Bentley’s seperation cum intended divorce is just the tip of the iceberg! He is a spiritual fruit cake! Don’t waste your time praying for Bentley until you pray for and see results of deliverance from demons, false angels and the occult.
Todd Bently is a prefect example of what happens when these “revivals” become more about the “star” than about God. Todd really thought those people were there to see him first, then God. My impression was that he was soaking up all that cheering and screaming like he was the one actually doing the “healing”.
Of course it has been proven that “revivals” like these generate a “mob mentality” and that people feed off eachother. This includes whipping themselves into a frenzy and releasing (sometimes dangerous) amounts of dopeamine (a natural halucinagetic produced in the brain, or “natural highs”). Todd’s “teachings” were so devoid of anything actually taught in the Bible that it’s easy to see how he thought it was all about him.
He prays (or invokes) angels. Angels are created beings just like you and I. In fact, we know that when Mary went to the tomb looking for Jesus she saw and angel too. She fell to the ground and worshipped the angel who told her to stop worshipping him because he too was a created being and NOT God. Therefore, we can conclude that Todd is teaching a false doctrine by asking for “miracles” from angels.
The list of Todd’s immoral and spiritual blasphemies are too lengthy to write here. I agree that all those involved, from God TV to the networks broadcast the “revivals” are just as guilty as Todd. However, Todd left a void that will surely be filled with the next “anointed man (or woman) of God” divinely inspired to kick old women in the nose with biker boots in order to reveal God’s true message. If the hallmark of a truly great leader is to inspire their followers by their actions, then I choose to follow Jesus’ actions. I just can’t recall one single act of violence commited by Jesus to show us all that he is the son of God. Maybe if Jesus had tattoos and biker boots…
And there will always be people that defend people like Todd. They are so lost that they can’t even tell when they are being decived. Jessu himself stated this would happen. Here is our proof.
No matter what faith you follow, please remember to pray for the countless victims of this disgraceful “revival” and all those that had a hand in it. We must also pray for those doing the deceiving. They are under the influence of Satan and we must continue to pray for them.
I believe it is our Christian duty to point out charlatians like Todd Bently, Paula White, Ken Copeland and others that preach the same false doctrines. If a “revival” comes to your town, visit it. See what they are teaching. Test it with the scriptures. If it is genuine, join the celebration! If it is fase, warn all those you can (peaceably). Gently point out the contradictions they are being taught and ALWAYS stand firm on the word of God.

You know we can sit here and criticize and put down, and say this was a false teacher and everything. You know I am getting really sick and tired of hearing all of this crap. You know what quit bringing up his past you know if God has forgiven him he does not remember and we should do the same. You know were so quit to judge and persacute and pointe fingers but you know not once did I hear anyone say, lets pray for this brother that really needs to get his life right with God. You know we all stumble and we all fall so we need to remember this. IT is time as christians that we quit this garbage and start coming out of the four walls that were complacent in and come out and be the people God has created us to be. God said I created you in my image, so that means everyday our goal should be to be more like Jesus. Yes he sinned but you know God will forgive him and restore him and make him new again.

Just a general thought. We all have sin in our lives to some degree.
Having said that, there is a degree of accountability for those who claim to be prophets, yet so much of their ministry is in obvious error to God’s word.
Judge not. I agree. However, stating the obvious and restating the quotes, outrageous as some may be, by the one claiming to have God’s word and be a prophet? It must be done.
Which is worse? Pointing out the errors that directly violate God’s word and save many of the new or gullible believers, or being silent when people are being taught obvious error.
As a believer, I’m saddened to see that each new “wave of revival” seems to be more outrageous than the previous one.
Yes, I’m a spirit filled believer. I believe God still saves, heals, delivers, usually in spite of what we may assert our beliefs to be.
The truth is painfully exposed. The great majority of the self proclaimed anything in God’s “army” are making a fortune on the backs of those who have severe need.
Would I want my life in a blog or on TV? No, thanks. But if I claim to be God’s voice, I would think it would be prudent to be far above the normal day to day believer in . Am I wrong? Possibly, but I don’t think so, and I believe the Word of God is likely much more critical than I am.
Hype isn’t needed. Sensationalism isn’t necessary. The pure, unadulterated Word of God and His gift of Jesus Christ, our redeemer is a much better “draw” than seeing someone kick cancer patients, vibrate their way to euphoria, or implore us to send seed money. The local church is where you’re fed. Finance the work, no matter how unassuming it is in your eyes.
I went to the revival in Florida. I did not follow Todd Bentley’s ministry previously although I do recall seeing a video clip of him several years ago and I just thought he looked like a creeper. Perversion is something that leaves its mark and it’s kinda hard for me to miss anyway. But I tuned into the revival and I saw God moving – through an imperfect vessel – but there was no way he could “fake” what was going on there. It wasn’t like after a crusade and they report how many people were healed. You saw people go up in wheel chairs or unable to hear – and they would be healed.
When I went, I stood right up at the front and saw several blind people healed. The reality is, healing is a lot more common than many people realize. I’ve personally experienced physical healing and prayed for people who were instantly and miraculously healed – at my “local” church no less. And I know other people who have experienced miraculous healing as well. I have a really big problem with the idea that God no longer works in miraculous ways because He does and as Christians we are all called to do the works of Christ. That was one thing I really liked about Todd Bentley’s message – he was all about people going out and laying hands on the sick – it wasn’t about just watching him do it.
But I didn’t accept the other crap that went along with Todd Bentley’s message. To this day I’m not entirely sure where the truth left off and the crap began with a lot of the stuff I heard him say and other people say they’ve heard him say. So I’ve just put it off the side because it isn’t essential to my walk with Christ. I will let Him reveal the truth to me in Scripture on those topics in His perfect time. I just know the Holy Spirit warned me about “going there” with all the angel and heavenly visitation stuff. We do see angels interacting with people in the Bible and taking them up into heaven – but never just for a joy ride. I mean, if it was that easy, who would want to hang around down here? Heck – I’d go and be in heaven 24-7 baby!! And in only one instance did a dead person appear to someone else in Scripture – and that was the result of witchcraft. I’m not sure why God allowed that to happen to Samuel – but oh well. And the only other time in the Bible was when Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus. So . . . I don’t think there really is too much Scriptural basis for that so I’m pretty careful with that stuff. I think people are too hung up on the whole kicking the woman in the face thing though – if you listen to the whole story, she fell out in the Spirit before he could make any contact. Maybe he was operating in the flesh but nobody got hurt and he doesn’t make a habit of doing that.
Mostly I just had a general sense that there was a lot of pride mixed into what was going on there. And where there is pride – there is sin – it’s the root of sin in all of us.
But at the same time, I had such a special time with the Lord while I was there. The TVs only showed Todd Bentley but in the crowd we were pretty oblivious to him to be honest. God was ministering and moving so powerfully that He had all my focus when I was there. My experiences were so special in fact and so unrelated to Todd Bentley that they remain special to me in light of all the crap that’s come out about the movement, the man and the ministry.
So even though I felt the pride and deception operating – the presence of God was there too. I don’t believe the presence of God can tolerate being around pride and sin – but at the same time, Jesus paid the price for our sin – and He gives us a lot of grace. I mean, let’s face it people, He uses imperfect vessels. We try so much to still justify ourselves with our works. We convince ourselves that God really does NEED us – that we have SO much to offer. But everything we do is crap – period. Yet He still uses us – I don’t get it – ask Him! But thankfully He also lets our sin catch up with us too – praise God. I feel like the Lord is being so gracious to Todd right now because He didn’t let this continue for years and years. That is such a blessing.
Still, I’m not one of those people who thinks that we shouldn’t take the deception, pride and sin seriously – because God takes it seriously. Scripture is pretty clear about how God will judge those who lead others astray. We need to recognize the power of the saving grace of Jesus Christ to cover all sin but there is nothing wrong with calling people’s fruit into question – especially if they are leaders – as long as it doesn’t come from a place of hatred and bitterness. We are still called to be “known by our love” – not only for our own but also for our enemies (depending on which category you place Todd in).
However, I feel like this whole controversy really highlights the fact (no matter who’s doing the talking really) that the church has become much to focussed on leaders and leadership – we follow ministries, churches (including “local” ones) and doctrine instead of the Lord! But Christ isn’t coming back for leaders – He’s coming back for His bride – and that’s all of us! Our focus needs to be on the Lord and not on a person. Anyone who went to the revival with that focus probably got thoroughly blessed – I did – and anyone who didn’t go with that focus, didn’t – but whose fault is that? Todd’s or their’s? Where in the Bible does it say that we’re supposed to take whatever our leaders tell us and believe it 100%? Especially with the way things are now – pretty much anyone can stand up and say “I’m a pastor! I’m a leader!” All you gotta do is go to a Bible college and that’s pretty much it – you can be a pastor! I guess God doesn’t get to appoint people anymore like He used to. I’m not trying to negate Todd’s responsibility in all this – but doesn’t Scripture say that His sheep will know His voice? If you are led astray, what does that say about your relationship with God?
It doesn’t matter who is sharing – it’s ALWAYS got to go back to Scripture – and the whole Scripture – and that includes the Scriptures that say God is God and sometimes we won’t know what the heck He’s up to – but you will know Him by His FRUIT. And it won’t contradict Scripture. We’ve got to KNOW Him – not just know about Him. We must have a personal relationship with Him and know His Scriptures. Not just so that we won’t be led astray by others – but so that we won’t be lead astray by our own lusts and desires!
We’ve got to get our eyes on Jesus and the Word of God – let’s by all means hold each other accountable – but let’s do it in love. And let’s remember that we don’t know everything. Don’t assume that no good came out of this – I’m proof that is not true – you may not accept my words as proof – but please believe me when I say God used this situation to teach me more about Him and how to move in power and authority – and still operate in discernment. And I believe it’s entirely possible that He has blessed others in a similar way. And you know, I don’t believe I’ve been “ripped off” because I gave towards the work of the Lord – not to Todd Bentley. And even if his ministry is misusing the money, I believe the Lord can and will bless my giving and the giving of others who gave with that heart. God can work all things together for the good of those who love Him. Don’t limit Him and don’t assume that He can’t use this situation to bring life. Don’t set yourself up as judge. Stand for truth and by all means speak it – but don’t say anything as FACT unless it comes straight from the Word of God. That’s probably how Todd Bentley got in this situation in the first place. God’s thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways.
God work through imperfect men. If he didn’t he wouldn’t be able to do anything on earth.

I agree that Todd sinned but i also belive that no sin is to great for God to forgive. I belive that we need the discernment of Christ in this matter. I mean, what would Jesus do? No matter what sins Bently has committed, it is not our responsibility to demean and criticize him. God is his judge not us. We would not want to be beaten down by others because of our failures. Not only this but he is our brother no matter how backslidden. Our ONLY duty right now is to offer the same forgiveness to Todd as Christ offered freely to us.
I want to be the first on this page to say-I forgive you Todd Bently. I know what it is like to be a broken vessle. I am sure that everyone does. Though your sin seems huge and unforgivable our secret sins are not less damnable. I hold no bitterness in my heart for you. Who knows-if i was in your same situation i may have made the same mistakes. I know this- Christ can take our faults and turn them into beautiful gifts.
Our forgiveness does not change Todds sin- nothing will, but God told us to forget the past and look ahead. Do you think that God is not powerful enough to change Todd and use him? God is love. Love is not bitter, gives forgiveness and seconed chances freely.

I had much to say, but some here have already said much that you need to hear. If you cannot hear it through them, then you will probably not hear much through me. I have a few questions: Where is the love? Galatians 6:1 says “Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted.” Where is the gentleness? Where is the restoring? Where is your heart? We’re told to tell the truth in love. Where is the love? Not to mention the whole truth…
God loves you enough to warn you through His people. You talk of those who say “Don’t judge,” and “Touch not my anointed”…is it with disdain? It’s God Who said these things. I can appreciate all that is being said in the various blogs but brethern we are not talking about just anybody we are not talking about the issues taking place in the local church (yes sin is sin no matter where it happens). The event happen on the world stage and it was an individual who was suppostly examplyfying, Christ and was viewed as a reflection of the Christian Church Worlwide.

Touch not my anointed references God’s love for His people Isarel> In regards to do not judge well again the context is referring to the world but to the church we are all to judge (righetously) the brethern.
The Apostle Paul spoke of this to the Corianthian Church because of the sexual misbehavoir that was going on in that church. He said and as I understand it – put out from you those who sin to the devil so they can quickly repent and return to the flock(Parphrase). This postion of Paul is Judgement on the individual. We need to put things in order here brethern! it is time to stop these behaivors and we need to seek Holy Spirit as the Teacher (Gospel of John) to hold accountable all whom claim a special call to the services of God.
We as the body of christ must become better stewards by becoming a mature bride waiting for her groom. No more being suckered brethern!
Let us change our way of thinking to the mind of Christ and remember our responsibility in this as well.

It is very sad to read so many comments, as well as the original post, that lack any grace whatsoever. Sin is sin, but love is love. As I read so many condemning remarks and see all the finger wagging in the name of truth, I just don’t see much love or grace. Something is not right.

I understand your observation of the absents of Love and Grace!
What is not right is – What happened at Lakeland and in particular with Todd. He damaged the Church (the bride) worldwide.
I believe in grace but grace was extended before Lakeland to Todd. He did not want it then and he was warned (by His own testamony) that God was not pleased with him because of his own focus on what he was thinking that he should do and claimed God in it.
My own thoughts are that Lakeland showed how we can be overally obedient to what is not of God by being told -that if we critisize- then we are against God and subject to grieiving the Holy Spirit.
The same ones who were critizing those within the broader church for their discernment – knew what was going on at Lakeland was wrong both Todd’s behavior behind the scenes as well as his behavior while before the world. He was caught in lie after lie. Claim after claim of resurrections from the dead were never confirmed.
Todd removed himself because he knew that God made his warning come to past at Lakeland. Todd was found out and so was his supporting ministry team.
My prayer is for the babies in the word and for those that were seeking the Lord only to find another TV Evangelist caught in lies and cheating,…
Those who were their at Lakeland, went there looking for God in it. I believe for some they did find Him but the falling away of the layers of Lies are revealing an evil deception that will require much prayer and repentance on all the church for allowing the behavior to extended itself on the world scene for such a long period – 100 days!
That is why I feel the way I do!
I forgive you Todd, as our Father in heaven will also forgive you if you ask him too. No one is perfect… I will hold you and your family up and prayer.

I would agree with all those who wrote about not judging Todd Bentley and that God is the judge. I’m sure many of you who are speaking against this man and tearing him down have your own secret sins and are not perfect! Let ye without sin cast the first stone. Yes, I do agree it was right he needed to step down from the ministry and it is not right what he has done, but you do not know his heart, you do not know how he feels about the situation, and you do not know his relationship with God. Has anyone ever heard of the Great Deceiver who comes to kill, steal, and destroy…..SATAN!! I truly believe that the revival was of God and that Todd was called to head the revival and lead by God, but when God is moving so much and so many people are getting touched and saved by God, the devil wants to tear it down and destroy it. Unfortunately, Todd let satan in and gave into his deception and lies and it caused him to sin, but that is when we are to pray for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ..not tear them down or tear God’s movement down and what God did through that man, that ministry, that revival for many people!
I’ve been in Todd’s place before, although nobody knows me and I’m not head of a ministry, though married and a christian, I gave into satan’s lies and I fell into adultery. Right before I did, I was growing with God so much and every week I had new people that were coming to church and hungry to have a personal relationship with God. It was the worst thing I’ve ever experience in my life. I felt so distant from God. I felt I let so many people down that I was a witness too and of course I felt most of all that I let God down. So many people in the church had something to say and wanted to tear me down with their words and their actions, but inside I was so broken, so depressed, and I missed God and him in my life. Thank God, I had pastors and some friends that didn’t give up on me and prayed for me and for my husband constantly and most of all they showed me LOVE!! Love is what I needed. Prayer was what I needed. Not to be put down and ridiculed and for people to cast me away. Of course, you have to be willing to let God work in you and to turn from your sins..which none of you know if that is where Todd is or not..only him and God know that, and if he truly is….then lets praise God that he will restore that man’s life, salvation, love, marriage, and family!!!!! I did ask true forgiveness of my church family and those involved for what I’ve done and the people I hurt. So then would you say that I do not know God. That I am fake. That God does not work through me? That I do not love God because I sinned?? You all do not know me or how much I love God or my relationship with God. You do not know how much my heart hurt because I let God and everyone down. You do not know how bad I felt because I hurt my husband and children so much because of what I did and you do not know what Todd is going through!! Thank God, He turned it all around. My husband and I are back together because I was willing to let God work and to restore my marriage and my family. God turned something so bad into something SO GOOD. My marriage is better. My husband has turned back to God and goes to church with me again after 3 years of not wanting to have anything to do with God. So before anyone has anything negative to say about this man and what he has done, maybe you shold wait to see what happens in Todd’s life and to start praying for him instead of calling him a false prophet and pulling him down.
BTW…if anyone has checked up on updated info about Todd Bentely, it does say that he is in the process of getting help and restoratin with Rick Joyner, so you would think that the man does have some kind of guilt in what he has done and wants to get back to where he was with God.
Also, if you look up Rick Joyner’s progress with Todd Bentley, although divorced, he has issued and apology for what he has done and can follow up with his restoration with God with Rick Joyner’s help.
Brethen, brother Bentley has messed up real bad but, he too is a man like you and me. This brother needs our prayers more than anything right now. It is simply happening to him and rather unfortunate that it had to be this publisized but we all fall. You who cast stones at him, haven’t you fallen and maybe worse than this, and just because you are not a public figure doesn’t make you more righteous.
It funny how christians of today depend and appreciate their own righteousness. Do not get me wrong, I not encouraging a sinful life, i’m simply saying if a brother fall, let us help him up.
Let me remind you Christ words to the church of Laodiceans, in verse 17, they thought they were rich, increased with goods, and had no need for anything, Christ told them they were wretched, miserable, poor, blind and naked. So all of you who think you well clothed to tell your fellow brother he is naked are in a worse state than you think.
This spirits most of you exercising are the spirits of the pharisees and the scribes. They will stand in public squares to pray so that they will be appreciated by the people, but i tell you the truth, the little tap they get on the back is their pay.

You who feel freshly unsinful, have you ever read Romance 8:1 which says there is therefore no condemnation for him who is in Christ, he who is let of the spirit, or 2 Cor 5:19 which says “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the WORLD(Note that it doesn’t say christians but the world) to Himself, NOT IMPUTING their trespasses unto them, and also says that God has committed unto us the ministry of reconciliation. This verse says that even unbeliever are saved, just that they don’t know. That is the reason we have to announce to them the GOOD NEWS. It is called GOOD NEWS because they are thinking they are condemned but come and tell them otherwise that Jesus Christ was already condemned in their place,so they just need to accept they exchange(2 Cor 5:21) and be righteous. Brethen, our righteousness now as christians by God’s abundance grace and NOT by any effort have put in to obtain or become.

I’m your brother in brother Todd, I love you and I haveforgiven you for i have that power. I take it upon myself to pray everyday for you that you may oneday take back the pulpit. Just realise that you need more intake of the word. During this time that you are out of the stage, take that advantage and continue with the transformation process (Rom. 12 : 2) more time with the Father in fellowship and He will continue to teach you, for He loves you conditionally. Learn from this, take more time to pray that you may not fall again and even if you fall again don’t remain on the ground. In all of this don’t listen to the voice of the seeds of the Devil who have decided to take the place of the pharisees and stay on the ground, for the problem is not in the falling but in being able to stand up again and continue to move until the day of the manifestation, stay focused on the cross and remember He took upon Himself your infirmities, Peace bro.
To your wife i say, be strong from the strength of the Holy Spirit who strengthens you. Look beyond the flesh and see not his weaknesses. Look to the God. He just a man of like you and me. He has fallen, but learn something from all of these, maybe you need to be more prayerful him, especially if he ever(and he sure will) get back on the pulpit. Shortly after the prophetic messages of Zechariah’s times, the Jews started to divide into numerous factions. Thus, Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, Herodians, and Zealots. Because of these groups, there was the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70.
So, the end result Israel rejected the Messiah, and God would reject them. Ok. Now, today we can see a shift in Mr. Bentley’s ministry.
According to the Bible, it is a great tragedy for any of God’s people or leaders should I say, to fail to care for the flock adequately. The leaders are particulary accountable for the conditions of the flock.
So, consider the importace God’s word places on the Leaders. Remember that leading carries a great respnsibility. Who do you really want leading you into and through tough times?
It’s not really about the showmanship. It’s about the heart. All our hearts!
For years i tried to tell my brothers and sisters in the Lord that Todd was a false prophet. First of all , how come he didn,t seek the Lord to restore his marriage back to his wife. Another thing he said on tv that Jesus was going to manifest his self in the flesh the next day. But it never came to past. Another thing is all of the healings that he claims that happen and never did.Wake up world, the Lord warns us of wolves in sheep clothing.
I have followed Fresh Fire Minstries since 2002. I have prayed much for Todd & his family & am deeply saddened with the recent events. I have grown in his eachings and beliee him to be an anointed man of GOd, but let us not forget that he is just a man.What has occurred is tragic and although you can drag it through the dirt, put a microscope over it, sin is sin no matter how you look at it.
But we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Do you not think that God knows of all our imperfections and yet he uses us in spite of them.
We could quote scriptures for every situation in life either in a negative or positie way. But it is not our place to judge “anyone”, that is not a place that any believer holds. We all know the more visible we become as leaders for the kingdom of God, the bigger the target we become also. And the bigger the target the more visible we are to the works of the devil. My heart aches for this tragedy that has happened, particularly for the children and for Canada as a Nation.
As Canadians it is our responsibility to pray for our leaders, no matter what thier stature in the worlds eyes may be. Canada has a destiny yet to be fufilled and it will come to pass, whether the people we think will be used of it or not. But in the interm, let us not forget our responsibility to pray for our Nation and to remember the prophecies spoken over our nation. We need to be calling them forth and declaring them and calling for the men, women, youth & children of God that He has been preparing for this great end time harvest. I continue to pray for Todd, I am believing for full restoration, that this natin would not be robbed of those whom God has chosen in this time.

I wonder who to believe now. I have had some supernatural events in my life but never saw an angel. Do they really see angels or is this a lie too. i love to go where God is moving and that is what we all long for. To just be in the presence of God. Todd should not be restored into any ministry and now I see it is all about money. God help us. sara
Sarah, while I believe (as has been the case in the past with some of the ministers they admire) the angels are made up, I also believe scripture, that what they are ’seeing’ is demonic.
Do a search on what the bible says about angels, especially the NT, we can entertain them unaware.
This tickles peoples ears, makes them think these guys are super spiritual and you can be to.

God is moving, He is in control, He is with you, whether you ‘feel’ Him or not. You are in His presence and He will not leave you or forsake you. Are you going to seek the polar star or follow some dude with a flashlight?

28:19 “Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The LORD will also deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.”
So why should Todd Bentley be any different from Saul? He is not! He is a false prophet who disobeyed God by stealing a million dollars from the sheep by lies. During the Lakeland revival Todd said that God told him to get 1,000 people to give $1,000 dollars. When people confronted Todd, Todd admitted that God did not say that.
All the so called healing and resurrections from the dead by Todd the Fraud could not be documented on ABC’s Nightline?

The Psalmist said, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Todd is not a Christian in any sense of the word and we have all seen his bad fruits and lawlessness (Matthew 7:16-23)
Some one has to preach the Gospel to todd. Nothing but about the Cross. Todd needs milk, not food.
