David Akin looks at the advance polling numbers released by Elections Canada. Advance polls where held Friday, Saturday and Monday.

Elections Canada said late last night that 1.46 million Canadians cast their ballots in advance polls, a decrease from the 1.56 million who exercised their franchise early in 2006.

Louis-Hébert where 11,239 (Conservative incumbent)
Carleton-Mississippi Mills   (Conservative incumbent)
Nepean-Carleton with 10,337 (Conservative incumbent)
The trend is broken in Thornhill 9,440 (Liberal incumbent)

The rest of the top 10 have BQ and Conservative incumbents. Akin asks if traditional wisdom of a low turnout favours incumbents and a high turnout challengers.

His theory is The Conservative Party is better organized in GOTV - getting out the vote.
