A few years ago I followed a link to a blog with an inauspicious title - Today at the Mission.
What I didn’t realize was I’d find a friend.
Today at the Mission’s author has served, waited, challenged his readers, challenged himself and in his writing gave us the privilege of walking with him to the edge of the river.
Go and read when you can.
He has announced it is time for the next part of his long, strange, wonderful journey. It is now as the Book of Discipline says - a time of cultivation.
RWK has announced he working toward becoming a ministerial candidate with the Free Methodist Church of Canada. But of course! This is joyful news.
Henri Nouwen’s mentor prayed this prayer for him - I humbly offer it for RWK as he begins his season of cultivation.
May all your expectations be frustrated.
May all your plans be thwarted.
May all your desires be withered into nothingness.
That you may experience the powerlessness and the poverty of a child and sing and dance in the love of God the Father, the Son and the Spirit.
Indeed.
