If you are going to accuse someone of calling you a racist and Nazi, and willfully use that belief to further your agenda, wouldn’t it be wise to make sure you aren’t the one who used that language? Make sense? Didn’t think so.

Kathryn Joyce is an outstanding writer, and I go out of my way to find her work. In March she wrote a piece for The Nation on the organization entitled, Missing: The Right Babies. I linked to it back then, there is a lot to chew on in her article.
The piece was written for the March 2008 print edition and put online February 14th.

Well, The World Congress of Families PR guy Don Feder really didn’t like what she had to say so besides calling her ‘our little Katie’ in his February rebuttal, and attempting to be oh so clever, he also accused her of seeing them as racists and Nazis. You can read all his cleverness yourself. The Feder op-ed rebuttal was online February 25th. He leads with:

According to Kathryn Joyce, sneer-and-smear artist for The Nation, those who are concerned about the worldwide decline in birthrates are — to put it mildly — racist, neo-Nazis, who have a hidden agenda and (under the guise of demographic winter) are engaged in our age-old quest to control women’s bodies.

Oh.
The sneer and smear artist really is…

Feder used to write for The Boston Herald, sending out a press release October 30th for your organization using your own name calling from months ago is quite the opps for a professional.
Name calling doesn’t lend itself well to professional credibility either, does it?
Kind of shoves one out of the marketplace of ideas and puts you in a verbal bully school yard.

Interesting behavior.
When we fall into the habit and sloth of name calling, we start to assume everyone engages in it.

Kathryn Joyce had the grace to accept their apology and not put up their mistake.
Here is their apology, coming on the heels of their hand out to supporters begging for money. Of course.

Chalk up my lack of grace to recuperating from a head injury.;^)

DEAR FRIENDS OF THE NATURAL FAMILY,

Please note the following correction to the email sent out yesterday on the “Demographic Winter: Decline of the Human Family.”

The quote in the following paragraph should have been attributed to Don Feder (not Kathryn Joyce) –

There are some who don’t want you to know this information. In fact, members of the liberal media — in an attempt to silence the vital message contained in Demographic Winter — have already referred to Demographic Winter as an attempt by “racist, neo-Nazis, who have a hidden agenda and are engaged in [an] age-old quest to control women’s bodies.”

We apologize for the mistake.

Sincerely,

Lawrence D. Jacobs
