The classic turkey drop on WKRP dedicated to narcissistic governors and the media who encourage them.:^)

I used to work at Maytag during the time that Gordon Jump, who earlier had portrayed WKRP station manager Mr. Carlson, was the Maytag Repairman. I was at one of the more significant trade shows one spring where we were showing the Maytag Cordless Iron in a booth. Gordon Jump and Mark Devine (then portraying the Maytag Apprentice) were both working the show for us. I got to ride from the hotel to the show with them in a limo one morning.
Mr. Jump had a tremendous sense of humor and was exceptionally good interacting with people. He and Mr. Devine were joking back and forth during the ride. In the middle of it, Mr. Jump said the line from that scene, “As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly” in perfect character and had us all giggling as we rode.
He was a great actor and a remarkable professional. What he and Mr. Devine did for Maytag was much harder work than I imagined. They both represented Maytag ideals better than I think the company did not too long after that.
Maytag was fortunate to work with him as long as we did.
WKRP succeeded in looking as cheesy as pop radio
stations in that part of America. Cincinnati was particularly
vulnerable because of its reputation with the likes
of Pete Rose , Marge Schott, Charles Keating and
Jerry Springer.
I’ve said it for a long time that the only good thing
to come out of Cincinnati was a Baldwin piano.
Sorta miss Herb’s white patent leather shoes and
loud jackets, don’t you?
