Opps. I wandered over to The Canadian Blog Awards to see when the voting started and got reading comments from people disgruntled when nominations closed. I think that was Sunday when voting started.

And of course I got clicking around, checking out blogs and categories I don’t normally read, voted in a few, and gave myself a mental cue to post that round one of voting for The Canadian Blog Awards was open.

I missed my cue. It’s Tuesday - tempus fugit - that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

Round 1 of voting in the Canadian Blog Awards is open.

This hooray for blogs is run by some of the most sanguine and committed volunteers I’ve ever seen.
The process is reader-driven. So it works like this, if you are reading this post,  go over and vote.
There are plenty of categories and plenty of blogs.
The first round of voting trims nominees in each category down to the top 5 who go into the final round.  And if you give yourself a mental cue to come back to BDBO after you’ve clicked around awhile and you don’t get back, that’s okay. I can identify.

First Round Voting: November 23rd-November 29th,
Last round Voting: November 30th-December 7th

One vote per category. Since there are so many blogs, I didn’t get the voting I wanted to get done Sunday. And when I went back today I found out once I’ve voted in a category (I forgot I had) the software tells you. Cool beans.

This is not a perfect process, it’s supposed to be fun.  If you like reading blogs and the blogs you are reading, your vote says so.

One of the contentious categories has been Best Feminist Blog. Long story. Got contentious again this year so they picked a judge to weed through the nominees. And someone got dumped who I don’t think should have. There are people who oppose the Canadian Blog Awards on principle and ideology, there are people who really really really want to win. There are people who are contrary just for the sake of being contrary.
There are people who protest on logical grounds and ideological grounds. It’s about blogging and the people who read them.

Hey, other than the F Word Blog Awards which was a great response to the protests of the Feminist category, it’s all we have. Fortunately The Canadian Blog Awards are not commercialized yet, even the fighting around nominations and categories is Canadian.:^)
I”ve been honoured to have that button on my sidebar this past year, and in the category BDBO showed up in, it’s someone else’s turn, okay?  So go vote, enjoy some blogs, see you later eh?

Well, you’re in the running for best religious blog again, so I voted for ya.

    Dear Bene,
One thing that stood out for me last year, was your graciousness and kindness to competing bloggers. The best example to us all, especially in the Religious/Philosopy category.
    Blessings!
