  1. Rev. Mike says:

If I thought for a minute that increasing the outlay to the Palestinians would fix anything, I’d say it would be a good investment. However, our previous efforts would seem to suggest that money sent to Palestine tends to end up in the pockets of the wrong people, like many a US foreign aid dollar, e.g., witness the corruption of the PA under Arafat and Fatah. Would we expect different results from Hamas?

  2. BD says:

Hamas was elected because Palestinians were sick of Fatah.

Read the NYT article on how Bush gave aid to Fatah.
I don’t think the US has the solution to the complexities.

I agree, money isn’t going to produce different results.

And I think as a Canadian I need to learn too. Meantime, Gaza is the worlds largest outdoor concentration camp with civilian shields being slaughtered.

CPT teams escorting kids to school were beaten up along with the kids by settlers. A lot needs to be done.

  3. Gord says:

I agree throwing more money in won’t solve much. But when the US is so demonstrably in favour of one side in the conflict it makes them useless in brokering a peace agreement.

It is stuff like this that makes the PAlestinians sure the US has Israeli “needs” more in mind than those of the Palestinians
