Prayers for Amy

Amy Welborn, a well known blogger and writer lost her husband this morning.

Michael collapsed this morning at the gym and was not able to be revived despite the efforts of EMTs and hospital personnel.

We are devastated and beg your prayers.

Michael Dubruiel was Director of the Office of the New Evangelization and Stewardship in the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, a former priest and an author. Amy started blogging in 2001 is well known among faith bloggers around the world. My deepest sympathy and prayers go to Amy and her family. Amy and Michael married in 2000 and have two sons.

The title of Amy’s blog is above the brief announcement of her husbands sudden death and comes from the end of E.B. White’s book Charlottes Web; “It is not often that someone comes along who is both a true friend and a good writer. Charlotte was both.”

“Charlotte was Both” is the title of her blog, not her announcement. However, she is a friend, nay, elder sister, to the Christian Blogosphere and a good writer. Those of us who have walked with her vicariously via her blog for the last seven years feel her pain.

Thanks for passing those prayer requests on and getting Michael’s mini-resume; I hadn’t quite caught why they relocated to Alabama until now.

I remember her previous blogs In between Naps and Open Book prior to Charlotte was Both.

She has had a profound impact, and my dealings with her have been a pleasure. Michael’s death is a shock felt by her readers.
Well said Mark, thank you. She is indeed a friend and elder sister in the Christian blogosphere.
