Ted Haggard on Divorce Court

Ted Haggard and his wife Gail are appearing on a US TV show for an undisclosed sum. It’s called Divorce Court. (Never heard of it, I had to look it up). This comes on the heels of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live and Haggard’s promotion of an HBO documentary about him. Phoenix Preacher:

Here’s what we can learn from Ted Haggard.

Nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

…My friends, listen to me…fidelity is a quality that can only be measured in years.

…Restoration to fellowship should happen as soon as repentance is made, restoration to leadership must wait until after fidelity is proven.

How much Kool-Aid did that man drink?

  2. Bene D says:

    A lot eh?

I’ve learned from Haggard, I’ve learned that addictions to power, attention are just as destructive as addiction to substances. I’ve learned self-deceit harms more than the person deceived. I’ve learned that fundamentalism isn’t healthy for living things.

  3. Bruce says:

You’re right, it’s the addiction to power, to fame, or whatever he allows himself to live off of. Anything but himself.

Fundamentalism doesn’t offer many opportunities to learn from the diversity we can all offer each other. Ted doesn’t realize that and how much he can contribute if he could only see the world outside, it’s all that kool-aid.

  4. Chris says:

Colorado Springs used to be a such a charming place to live… sigh.

So good ‘ol Ted, the charismatic Ted, who’d whip the throngs into fits of emotion during his Sunday revivals, has fallen from grace and we’re supposed to forget? Heck no, I cannot support a man who convinced his cult to put their faith in a man instead of God.

Now we hear Ted is going to an online degree mill to get a degree in psychology so he can counsel others one day??? I’ll give you 10:1 odds, that as long as Ted continues to make excuses for himself, when he finishes school, he’ll be sleeping with clients and doing meth before too long.
