Lisa Raitt tape – Halifax Herald wins injunction case.

The injunction against the Halifax Herald has been dismissed.

Yes!

Bloggers have been top of this most of the day, the court hearing was attended by other media outlets.

Short story. Last week the former communications director for Lisa Raitt (Minister of Natural Resources) resigned for leaving a briefing book at a CTV Ottawa bureau. (I wonder if the government is stamping everything secret to keep the public from knowing what is going on).  26 year old Jasmine MacDonnell former communications director filed an injunction in a Halifax court today to prevent The Herald from publishing a story on a leaked tape.

Bloggers were way ahead of the story. James Bowie, Dr. Dawg, Pushed to the Left, Runesmith’s Canadian Content, Western Grit

The tape was left in a bathroom, and the judge ruled it was not private. Raitt is apparently disparaging Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq and calling the isotope crisis sexy.

The Halifax Herald has the story. Yes!

I think what Dr. Dawg points out about the Conservative spokespeople cutting and running is important.

Every cancer patient in Canada can let the Conservative Government know a federal minister has minimized their suffering.
The ban on publication for the injunction hearing today has been lifted.

Gee – do you think this woman is wee bit over the top when it comes to a sense of entitlement?

Liberal plot, conservative coverup – who really cares? Calling the isotope situation sexy should have every Canadian calling for her resignation. Those with cancer and those who have survived cancer, those who have lost loved ones to cancer – she did us all a disservice.

I think the real story here is that Michael Ignaiteff decided to prop up the Harper government because he was threatened with retaliation by the CEOs of three major banks from the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.

Good to know where he’s getting his marching orders!

I find this all very low.If I found or lost something, I would want it given back. When did reporters become so Snoopy. Lisa has held her own, she is doing a good job. After all the libs had 13 years and 5 ministers to the same and nothing gt done. The NDP are weak, hence the feigned outrage from Jack and Gilles. This all equals no election. One more time with feeling, there is no shortage and there is no health crisis, iggy just cant gte it.They have taken steps to see that provinces have isotopes and or others things.

If I lost something I’d want it back.

If I found something I’d want to return it to it’s owner.

That is what The Herald reporter tried to do, Sandy.

She left the recorder in a bathroom. A female reporter found it, clicked it on and heard an interview with her and Stephen Mahar.

Thinking it belonged to Mahar, she gave it to him. He listened a bit of it, realized it belonged to McDonnell and phoned her.

She never picked it up. It sat there until the briefing book story, he pulled it out and listened to everything, found the end where Raitt and her were talking.

It’s politics, not the private sector. Raitt is intelligent and ambitious, she can go into the corporate world where she can’t do this kind of damage.
This recording happened months before this crisis, Raitt promoted McDonnell, the buck stops with the minister.

Yep, it’s low, it’s low on a lot of levels.

Only in Canada would words like these, spewed from an elected official be tolerated. The Prime Minister needs to do what is right, ask for Ms. Raitt’s resignation. I’m certain most Canadians have lost respect for her and her office. Regrettably, it’s time for Ms. Raitt to go.

  6. Ann Eckerls says:

Sandy you are a foolish person! Gov’t Ministers have a certain responsibility to have some moral fiber!!! This poor excuse for a woman should have been CANNED. GOT it!!! S. Harper is a dictator in legal closes and personal responsibility which he used to preach has no meaning in this current gov’t. . Wake up dearrrie!

    Ms. Raitt

I have looked very closely into this issue and Ms. Raitt should be gone.

She left a file in the office of CTV right and didn’t think to ask when they left if they had everything they came with. Not good for Canada. And you don’t knowwho works there and who cleans theGreen Room and who has Twitter . Still freaks me out “Iran”

I say it might be just as criminal as leaving you child in a car alone well you run into the store for a minute.

There is a saving grace here though that Chalk River is shut down and all the computers are offline considering I read something about “cyber wars” the other day. Thank God and I do mean Jesus Christ The Son of the Living God. Amen Amen
