According to GuideStar’s copy of FOTF’s Form 990 for 2007, the organization received $145 million in revenue in that year — more than all national and regional gay-equality organizations combined. FOTF spent $146 million, resulting in a one-year loss of just over $1 million.
The current mid-year shortfall of $6 million dollars does not equal a $6 million loss; at worst, it means earnings will be lower than predicted. Another possibility: FOTF fund-raisers may be floating exaggerated budget expectations for the purpose of justifying a mid-year pitch for funds to fill an imaginary “shortfall.â€
With $75 million in the bank, above and beyond annual revenues, the organization could continue deficit spending at 2007’s pace for decades.
Fotf US sent out a plea for financial help a few days, making their situtation sound grim begging for donor help because of a ’6 million dollar’ budget shortfall. I guess belt-tightening means some focus on the finances. There are ministries and churches who are really hurting, not that Fotf is shy about manipulating. They cut 20% of their workforce in November 2008 after throwing over 1/2 million at Californias Prop 8.
If they need to belt tighten, I’d have no problem seeing Fotf pack up and leave Canada.

And don’t let that door hit’cha on the way out, FotF!
They’re in Canada now? I thought they were in Colorado Springs, CO (and, that was after being in Pasedena, CA?). I guess I”m way behind the times.
They run the commercial (selling the US products and editing the radio show) out of BC.
They have a Marriage Institute, a lobby group office in Ottawa and one Exodus affiliate left in Canada. There have been rumours Exodus Global (headquarted in Canada) may be in financial difficulty and merging with Exodus International and moving to Florida.
Marci McDonald’s ‘Steven Harper and the Theocons’ in The Walrus should bring you up to speed, the US operation sank 1.6 mil into Canada in 2003.
A couple of the Canada board members are big wigs in the Colorado organization.
They’ve had less than credible fellows at their marriage lobby/think tank (Institute of Marriage and Family Canada) and a staff member writes for whatever news papers will take her columns – Andre Mrozek. Typical political Republican stuff trying to be passed off as what Cdn conservatives want.
The Evangelical Fellowship I think has been stacked with former Canadian Fotf workers; don’t quote me I’d have to go through the list, they ran candidates under the Reform Party, but I don’t doubt Fotf Canada would do whatever they have to do to take over the EFoC and anything else they can get their hands on.
They have offices in about 14 countries, and the sooner they dry up financially in all the them the better. http://international.family.org/
Focus on the Family just sold Love Won Out to Exodus International, which has also meddled in several countries. http://exodusglobalalliance.org/findaministryc52.php
Heh, Heh ………….
I love it when a Zealot, Fanatical, Bigoted group starts to implode! But alias I don’t expect them to go away anytime soon and if they do go away there are plenty other fanatical groups to take their place.
