I’m not ready yet, ma

A few weeks ago this little one was the last of two to leave the nest. It flew about 10 metres and decided it wasn’t going any further.

I didn’t want to get too close, this wee American Robin was scared and curious. Mom and dad hung around close by, and only gave it bits of food, then flying a few metres away and encouraging it to spread it’s wings and try again.

He stayed where he was for a few days. Leaving the nest is necessary, and was harder for this one than it’s sibling. I saw it about a week ago, flight feathers in, and a few head pin feathers sticking out, just about all grown up and just hanging around.

About Bene Diction

Have courage for the great sorrows, And patience for the small ones. And when you have laboriously accomplished your tasks, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.

Triumph over adversity. The fruit of perseverance.

    Heart warming story, thanks BD.

If that little guy only knew what was in store for him to have to stay behind during one of our blessed Canadian winters, I bet he’d learn how to fly a lot faster! Come January, I think we might be tempted to envy him and his feathered family soaking up the sun in some lush warm latitude.

The baby bird is learning to fly.
It’s time for your entire world to change.
You will soon become responsible for yourself.
Listen to Dad and Mom, for they will teach you the importance of flight.
Now, it’s time to step away for the nest.
Dad and Mom say, “In order to survive you must fly!”.
You may fall down a few times, but your saftey is in the sky.
Give God glory for your gift of flight, and soar to the highest heights!

    Everything in its own time.

    To say more would detract.
