Will the former Miss California for the USA pageant, Carrie Prejean, be appearing at this event?
Will her book Still Standing be released on the date publisher Regnery Publishing says it is to be released?
Miss Prejean settled a lawsuit with the Miss California USA pageant officials, and likewise they dropped a counter-suit against her earlier this week.
The former beauty pageant/model sued in August for libel, slander and religious discrimination and a million bucks The pageant officials counter-sued, asking for the money they lent her for breast augmentation. ABC News:
TMZ.com reported that Wednesday, that after a lawyer for the pageant presented Prejean with a copy of a racy sex tape she made, the beauty queen backed away from her demands. TMZ.com reports that all the pageant will pay is approximately 100 thousand dollars to Prejean’s lawyer and publicist.
Reached by ABC News.com Prejean’s publicist declined to comment on TMZ.com’s report.
Prejean’s PR firm is the De Moss group.
Now her lawyer is threatening to keep this going. This 22 year old’s life is a very public mess and if gossip is to be believed an ex boyfriend tried unsuccessfully to sell this sex tape to various gossip sites.
Her lawyer’s bellicose and projecting statement echoes back the hollowness of a former beauty queen.
“In my 26 years of practice I have never dealt with a situation like this,” her attorney Charles Limandri told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. RadarOnline.com is aware of the existence of a raunchy sex tape of Prejean that is being reported as the reason she settled the lawsuit. “It seems as if someone has acted in an unethical and unlawful manner by even raising this issue,” said Limandri. “We are weighing our options and if this is a breach of contract we are considering suing for punitive damages.”
I don’t know appropriate words for her pathology, or the need and greed of those who are peddling along side her for profit.
The disconnect between Prejean’s private and public life is staggeringly self-destructive. How she sees herself (courageous, ethical, someone God speaks to, an Esther, value driven, victim) is dissociated from reality. Behavioral addictions attract all kinds of co-dependents from the religious, political and entertainment cultures.
She lost a pageant crown. She lost her credibility in a frantic flood of public appearances, lies and justifications. She devalued others and herself. I doubt the political pimps Prejean parades around with will stop objectify her and giving her pulpits to dehumanize others even though a self-pleasuring tape has surfaced.
I hope and pray Prejean walks away from what feeds her addictions and seeks the help she needs from mental health professionals.

What’s that song, “She ain’t pretty, she just looks that way.”?

Yes. Whatever pathology and need drives her, she is surrounded by people who are happy to help her dig the hole her life is deeper.
Prejean has framed ‘who’ and ‘what’ in her climb to infamy.
It’s not working, to frame her self-destructive behaviors as merely moral is to buy into her addictions and be an active or passive co-dependent.
Prejean’s lawyer released a more tempered and less blaming statement today.
One of the difficulties is a need to control real or perceived misinformation.
“In my 26 years of practice, I have never dealt with a situation quite like this. We came to a confidential agreement and yet within hours, rumors about what happened in the mediation were flying around the web and being accepted by news organizations as absolute fact. Carrie and I plan to continue to honor our confidentiality agreement with the other parties. But I can tell you this; many of the rumors circulating are inaccurate and misleading.”
Duh.
Beauty queens are a different format from the rest of us. Generally speaking their perception is based in a surreal world of lip balm, mascara and fake tans and of course the ever present smile.
It never ceases to amaze me how sarah palin manages to speak and smile at the same time!
I guess they think if they mention Jesus it will give them more street cred so to speak.
Sometimes you just wonder who’s exploiting who.
America is fast losing the ability to be real with itself.
As the Lord enters America he’ll have to fight his way through, a people that seem very ok with themselves and their determination to lead the rest of us. Irans desire for power has taken it to nuclear, it has taken its people to a religious battle line ready to fuse the two and religiously blow us all of the face of the earth. America has hobnailed boots on that walk into a nation and leaves behind it a place of resentment and hate that looks for a place to vent itself.
America needs to realise that the world does not look to it for hope anymore that all eyes will not be pointed or drawn into their direction, so when you hear certain religious groups say that America must be saved and the only way is for the christian to rise up against, this that and the other then you know that man is trying to restle the reigns as the Father says enough, religion does not heal, hate does not motivate peace and hope is not from anothers need to be heard. We should all have a voice that gets listen’d to but we don’t and thats the proplem. If leaderds had not made so many deals with each other and deceived each other we would not be in the position of not being able to trust anybody and religion does not mean trust, just look at the catholics battling with abuse, and so on. No if you really are determined to gain peace then you will keep going untill you get it no matter what the price is to yourself, its when we fall short and throw a bomb that we fail. We have to learn to follow through with integrity, boldness and hope in and for all the circumstances we face and mean it and stand firm without intimidating others hopes in the process and that taks time, determination, and the Fathers heart walking alongside you. Its possible but most times we aren’t. Thats why most of his disciples fell away and took the easy way home when it came to the crunch and they had to stand up for him as he hung dying from a cross. FEW HAVE BECOME THE VOICE OF THE MANY AND THATS ALL WRONG, so thank you for allowing us a voice and a place to speak it out.
The ultimate reversal of her fortunes comes when
her book is published by Regnery, no less.
That’s a very controversial publisher and it’s always
filled with the near-famous and infamous for authors.
The early deep discount pre-publication price
suggests it’s something they were saddled with
and want to get rid of–and quickly.
That Amazon should couple it with Palin’s new book
is not a benefit for either title.
Pity the poor lady. She once had a future. Now
she is nothing more than a broken woman with

She had her 15 minutes of fame and is milking it for all it is worth. It doesn’t help that she’s been made a martyr/poster girl of the right and has plenty of enablers in that realm. She’s been 2009’s Joe the Plumber, but cuter.
She made me uneasy from the get-go, but beauty pageants make me uneasy to begin with.
All I can say is, it’s a really, really sad commentary when Christianity and the so-called religious right is linked hand-in-hand with beauty pageants and breast augmentation. I may never be able to stop shaking my head in disbelief…
One of the words I didn’t use to describe her was narcissist.
That she is narcissistically wounded and wounding others is not a surprise in our culture.
Her behavior, words and actions not age appropriate and that is why I say nacissistically wounded.
The following has been demonstrated by Ms. Prejean.
Shamelessness. She isn’t able to express shame in a healthy way. When the semi-nude pics of her at 17 surfaced she got unapologetically defensive and looked for allies in her defense.
Someone else was to blame, not her.
Magical thinking. She works at perfection and uses projection to dump shame and her shame on others.
Arrogance. Read a couple of pages of her book. It drips with it.
Envy. If someone doesn’t respect her belief she is superior she has to tear that person or persons down and minimize their ability.
Entitlement. She does believe she is special and contracts and rules don’t apply to her. To defy social conventions the rest of us follow is a norm, to deny her is perceived as injury which triggers rage (which Ms. Prejean seems to express in a couple of ways including tears and moralizing)
Exploitation. Others are there to be used. Why should she have to pay for those breast implants?
Bad Boundaries. People exist around her to meet her needs. Those who become co-dependent and supply her needs are expected to live up to very high expectations. Others are not separate, they exist as an extension of her. When they say no to inappropriate behavior, they are vilified.
Ms. Prejean was deeply wounded by her parents bizarre and prolonged divorce during her developmental years and admits she survived by lying which is a form of aggressive narcissism.
Yes, she is to be pitied but our pity cannot feed her woundedness for it only increases her belief of victimization.
There is treatment (cognitive and behavioral therapy) but difficult for a patient to go through and they tend not to see a need for it.
That “N” word again – isn’t it the awful truth we have to face that this is what is running most sectors of our world – not uncommon among political leaders, religious leaders, cult leaders, celebrities and beauty queens. (Not uncommon to see cross-pollination between them all either – religious leaders seeking public office, actors seeking public office, even cult leaders seeking public office, hmmm, wasn’t Sarah Palin a homecoming queen?) People with a deep-seated need to fight their way to the top. And their idolaters help to make them that way – a dysfunctional cycle of enablement and exploitation. Another feature of narcissism is the inability to empathize – scary thought whenever someone like this gets hold of the reigns of power…

I am so very sorry about the 100% hypocrite Prejean who talks Jesus and poses
and exposes her breasts! And now her sexually immoral tape to her boyfriend.
She IS NOT a Christian! She DOES NOT represent Jesus in any way!
Religion sucks! Hypocrites like Prejean will go to Hell [read Matt. 24:51].
Not the less, Jesus is still real…sell out your soul to him alone.

I just watched her on The View. She seemed very defensive to the point of being rude. I expected to see her ‘lose it’ at any moment. She may be beautiful on the outside but has some serious issues on the inside that unfortunately comes out when she opens her mouth – her beauty becomes ugly. I hope she makes nothing off this book.

That King performance was self-sabotaging.
If she was told she wouldn’t have to take questions fair enough, I can appreciate her being disconcerted. However she started unhooking pre-caller and talking to someone off stage.
She cancelled a speaking gig at the Capitol Hill Club (a Republican event) supposedly because her handlers didn’t want a repeat of the King fiasco. She is eye candy for the value voters crowd and that’s not going well either.
She also did an interview with Christianity Today.

She uses the reasoning she isn’t perfect but expects others to be perfect or at least fit into her view of herself. She wants to be taken seriously as an adult and justifies herself by saying she is young. She can’t have it both ways and her victim narrative isn’t playing well at CT either.
Given word has come out she did the sex tapes as an adult, she says at CT she was underage.
She isn’t grasping people see she is delusional and I pity her and wish she would get out of the spotlight.
Donald Trump and the pageant people are not happy with some material in the book, her ghost writer didn’t do her any favours, while Regnery is agenda driven, it’s poorly done.
She called Larry King’s line of questioning “inappropriate” but it was her behaviour that was inappropriate and over reaction. All she had to do was politely decline to answer any question she didn’t want to answer, or simply change the subject. The temper tantrum exposed her in a way that was much more intrusive than the questions. I think she actually has confused and conflicted beliefs – no doubt partly the fault of a confused and worldly church that is sending out very mixed and murky messages instead of a clear clarion call to be separate from the world. But, oh my, she has what I call a “strong personality” and I doubt she is ready to accept good advice from anybody at this stage! Sadly and ironically she could be the poster queen of what is wrong with the church today.
Those that encourage her in her deception are doing nothing but exploiting her, but I wonder how long before they realize she is a liability to their cause and dump her. Maybe then she will find courage and strength to begin to question some of her foundational thinking about herself, because as it says in the word, “I desire truth in the inward parts”. This is my hope and prayer for her and others in the same predicament, who because of overwhelming childhood circumstances, have unwittingly made “a lie our refuge, and falsehood our hiding place”, not realizing it was a covenant with death (Isaiah 28:15).
