I find this issue quite a difficult one because on one hand I believe that the bible teaches that no matter how bad the sin is God is willing to forgive and to show grace and people who have done the most appalling things can become new creatures in Christ.

On the other hand we only have Bentley's word that he repented.

I am also surprised that he has been able to enter the US.

Considering that children are around churches, it probably would not be a bad idea to have him on a register. Just for the sake of the children. Not a bad idea at all!

One thing concerns me. I understand that in South Carolina sex offenders must register, even if the offense was as a juvenile. I contacted the registry and he is not registered. I was told that if the offense was in Canada it would still apply if it is was comparable to the required offense in the US.

Someone could report him for not being registered. Anyone up to it?

I also wonder how a person with a juvenile criminal record could enter the US.

Todd Bentley was by his own admission involved in a sexual assault ring (dear heaven I never knew there was such a thing!) - that means he likely offended more times than the one time he got caught. He stated he doesn't like to talk about that part of his past because it might hurt his ministry - but if he is a real believer who has been delivered of this perversion one would think he would be eager to give glory to God through His Son Jesus Christ for His power to save and deliver, and that this would actually give him a ministry. The fact that he doesn't exhibit the fruit of a regenerated life, and the fact that he lies habitually also makes me think we should be cautious in believing him about his pedophilia when he says it's no longer a problem, especially since he can't seem to give a clear testimony about it. Also, the fact that he exhalts his dark night of sinful self-indulgence by calling it a "dark night of the soul" tells me he isn't repentant about that either. And we're all only too familiar with how he handled his adulterous affair. He exhibits a clear pattern to me of excusing rather than owning his failures - and that doesn't bode well for the pedophilia thing, or any of his other problems for that matter - none of us can be saved from our sin until we repent of it and we can't repent of it until we own it.

And all that is without even getting into how the apostate Babylonian church is a haven for sexual perversions....! It wouldn't surprise me, sadly, to see more unsavory headlines in the not distant future concerning protestant evangelical 'proclivities' similar to what we see within Roman Catholicism.

I thought I read somewhere, that Mr. Bentley had a record of child molestation. I did not know it was a seven year old boy. That's a very serious crime and mental issue. I truely hope he received the appropriate professional help, because those people are "birds of a feather" too. They are quite sneaky!

I think that christian couseling for him would be important, but there is also a place for the true professionals, who see through the fasad. After all, someone like him who can be kept covered from the public, kept out of sight at will, or at will not be observed, etc., well they can keep secrets. In addition, people who assist people like this are only encouraging wrong behavior.

Are there any christians out there with these thoughts too? Should we just overlook this type of behavior because it's in his past? Who helped this guy get this far with his lifeless tradition?
