If the rest of the government (opposition) shows up to the House on January 25th, that pic will go up.
I wonder how many Conservative MP’s will be doing face time at the Olympics on our dime?

Update: From Torontonian in the comment section via Scott Tribe:
Liberal MPs and senators will return to work as scheduled in the nation’s capital later this month, even though Parliament has been suspended until early March. Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff informed his caucus during a conference call Tuesday that he expects them to report for work on Jan. 25. He told caucus members they can’t let Prime Minister Stephen Harper get away with shutting down Parliament and stifling debate.
Good. And let’s hope the NDP and Bloc follow suit. A coalition of opposition while Conservatives grab their photo ops at the Olympics. Â There are voter protests planned across the country for January 23rd, perhaps they can be held in front of Conservative MP riding offices. There may be a picture to put beside that postcard after all. Â The full story is here.

It would be quite telling if the opposition parties show up
that day and, in so doing, “show up” the governing party.
Unfortunately, there can not be any house business without
a quorum of members from all of the parties.
But it still would be good to show up Harper for the lazy.
name-calling, sore-headed, so-called leader he claims to be.
Harper is a brilliant strategist, and I’m sure he has his reasons, but at the same time, the idea floating around that they should all take a pay cut due to this bears serious consideration.
On a more mundane level, why does the postcard mock-up show a postage stamp? Can we not write the PM for free, or does that only apply to the MP in our own riding?
Harper was elected to get the Conservatives a majority.
The Conservatives are counting on voters having short memories, not knowing how a Parliamentary system works, people getting fed up and not showing up to vote.
I guess you’d have to ask the artist who did the mock up.
I don’t put a stamp on my income tax return, I write ‘On Her Majesty’s Service’ and throw it in the post box. I tend to pick up the phone and call MP’s because most calls are 800 numbers, but if you want to send them something as far as I know you don’t need a stamp.
Torontonian: Optics. If they showed up January 25th, released how many bills have died and Harpers own quotes on proroguing from when he was in opposition, the number of bills killed from this move and what this proroguing is costing tax payers, and the cost to have Conservative MP’s take the Olympic tickets for their photo ops the rest of us can’t afford, or opposition MP’s donated a portion of their salary to a charity…
It would be a lot better than the hollow howling the opposition is currently doing.
Regarding the stamp in the mock-up: I read (perhaps somewhere on the Galloping Beaver?) speculation that the particular stamp chosen, an official Olympic one, is a dig at our politicians taking the month(s) off to go play at Photo-op Central in Vancouver. But like you said, I imagine you’d have to ask the artist.
(Forgive me, I’ve browsed a bit, but cannot seem to find where I got that idea. I cannot give credit, but I’m know I can’t claim it!)
Bene,

Now all we need are the BQ and NDP to make a respectable
showing and strengthen the case against Harper.
