Jesus guns -Trijicon Inc

A spokesman for Michigan military contractor which inscribes bible references on the rifle scopes it provides for various branches of the US military says:

Tom Munson, director of sales and marketing for Trijicon, which is based in Wixom, Michigan, said the inscriptions “have always been there” and said there was nothing wrong or illegal with adding them. Munson said the issue was being raised by a group that is “not Christian.”

Oh. That makes it all okay then. Always been there. How clever.
Golly gee, it’s just a not Christian group making a fuss about Trijicon Inc.
Munson is referring to The Military Freedom Foundation. The MFF CEO is Jewish, so that makes it all okay. Them not Christians should thanking Trijicon for making bible verse inscribed weaponry pieces used to kill Muslims, others and get out of the cross-hairs.
ABC News broke the story Monday.

Tirijon’s CEO hangs out with Focus on the Family CEO Jim Daly. According to Daly they are hunting buddies.

About a week ago I experienced yet another first: I went on a hunting trip with about a dozen men. The purpose of the hunt was to encourage each other in our roles as husbands, parents, and company leaders. And, by unplugging from our Blackberries and computers, we’d have the chance to detox from the stress of the daily grind.

I should point out these weren’t just ordinary folks like me. I’m talking a number of these guys were serious hunting pros. Guys like C.J. Buck, CEO of Buck Knives, Ray Hobbs, President of Daisy Outdoor Products, Mike Disario, Founder and President of OEI Properties, Bob Hodgdon, President of Hodgdon Powder, and Stephen Bindon, President and CEO of Trijicon among others.

Detoxing from the daily grind eh? Birds of a feather. Shucks, I suppose they detox by looking up the scripture references on their rifle scopes.

The Trijicon Inc. website says:

• Morality
We believe that America is great when its people are good. This goodness has been based on biblical standards throughout our history and we will strive to follow those morals.

Oh. That makes it all okay then.
Sorry to bother you boys – go back to your crusades and keep God and us foreign heathens in your sights.
When Paul said ‘Let light shine out of darkness’ he must have meant muzzle flashes.

The Pentagon sayswhat Trijicon Inc. is doing is not against military rules.
Some US military spokespeople say the ABC report the first they’d heard about this and one said it was no different than having “In God We Trust” on money.
Gun enthusiasts have been talking about the Trijicon bible references online since 2006.

Gott Mit Uns anyone?

Update: The defense contractor released a statement saying it would not put any more bible references on it’s equipment and would provide 100 modification kits to US military.

Its supposed to legitimize hatred is it and appease the concience of those behind the barrel!

America seems to be a law unto itself when it comes to (lies), jesus, war, and christianity.

Truth they make up as they go along.

  2. John says:

I imagine the people who are bashing the scripture on the guns are not aware of how much help America pours into the 3rd countries every single day. Nobody out-gives America! Nobody will provide more aid, more support, and more compassion.

Our faith in God drives us to rebuild countries and to defend the weak from their oppressors, which takes guns.

So yes, if you feel that Americans are a law unto themselves you may be correct, because the rest of the world has given up on law and order altogether. You hate America, but I bet you do not give to or love the poor people of the world like Americans.

I am proud to be American, and yes, I do own guns.

You imagine incorrectly John. So you are proud to be American and you own guns. That’s nice.

Trijion’s decision goes way beyond US borders. NZ, Iraq, UK, Australia, Canada, etc. – US allies are addressing the etching on the scopes sold to their military.

This is from Dispatches from the Culture Wars (http://tiny.cc/TsyOm)
and is from a US citizen serving his country:

    To: Mikey Wenstein and MRFF:

I am a U.S. Army infantry soldier with the rank of (rank withheld). I am married with children. I am stationed at Fort (installation name withheld). I have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times. I have been awarded medals for direct combat engagement as well as for injuries and wounds received in hand-to-hand combat. I am a Muslim American. My family converted when I was very young. I am caucasian and have a last name that does not sound ethnic. Therefore, few of my fellow soldiers know that I am a Muslim. My wife comes from a Christian tradition but rarely practices or attends church. I have witnessed terrible religious persecution in the my (number withheld) years in the Army. Most of it comes from “angry” conservative Christians in my unit chains of command and occasionally from my fellow infantry soldiers. I am very familiar with the Trijicon ACOG gunsights and have often had them as part of my personal weapons; both my M-4 and my M-16. In my first 2 deployments I saw and experienced no incidents regarding the New Testament bible quotes that are written on the metal casing of the gun sights. Many soldiers know of them and are very confused as to why they are there and what it is supposed to mean. Everyone is worried that if they were captured in combat that the enemy would use the bible quotes against them in captivity or some other form of propaganda. As an American soldier I am ashamed that those bible quotes are on our primary weapons. As a Muslim American I am horrified. As one who swore his oath to the Constitution, I am driven to fight this Christian insanity but I know if I try to do so in a visible way that I will suffer at the hands of my military superiors. I am of low enlisted rank and can be crushed easily. I am prepared to suffer, but I am not prepared for my wife and children to suffer. So I have reached out to MRFF because there is nowhere else safe to go to try to fight this thing of disgrace. There are many other soldiers who feel as I do. Many are Protestant and Catholic and they fear reprisal just as much as I do for trying to stand up to the Christian bullies in uniform who outrank us. But if you try to fight back, you are not “asking” for trouble, YOU ARE IN TROUBLE from the start. And if you are a Muslim American, the hatred is always just below the surface and ready to explode at a moment’s notice. After the Fort Hood shootings, it was so bad, even for a low profile Muslim like me, that I had to ask MRFF for help.

Nothing in my first 2 deployments prepared me for what happened with the Trijicon ACOG gun sights during my 3rd deployment to Afghanistan. I will never forget the day it occurred. It was morning and there was a mandatory formation of several companies. A very senior NCO was yelling at us which is not that unusual. He asked a private what it was that he (the private) was holding in his hand and the private said it was his “weapon” several times to which the senior NCO replied “and what ELSE is it”? FInally, the senior NCO said that the private’s rifle was also something else; that because of the biblical quote on the ACOG gunsight it had been “spiritually transformed into the Fire Arm of Jesus Christ” and that we would be expected to kill every “haji” we could find with it. He said that if we were to run out of ammo, then the rifle would become the “spiritually transformed club of Jesus Christ” and that we should “bust open the head of every haji we find with it.” He said that Uncle Sam had seen fit not to give us a “pussy ‘Jewzzi’ (combination of the word ‘Jew’ and Israeli made weapon ‘Uzi’) but the “fire arm of Jesus Christ” and made specific mention of the biblical quotes on our gun sights. He said that the enemy no doubt had quotes from the Koran on their guns but that “our Lord is bigger than theirs because theirs is a fraud and an idol”. As a Muslim and an American soldier I was fit to be tied but I kept it in. There were many Afghans, both civilian and military, on base within earshot of what was being yelled at us and I can only wonder in shock what they must have thought. This senior NCO was apparently also the head person of a conservative, crazy Christian group called the “Christian Military Fellowship” and made a big deal about the importance of joining to everyone. He told us all that we MUST read a book called “Under Orders” in order to make it through this combat deployment and said he had many copies for everyone. Some of my friends went and got their copies. I refused. Finally, this senior NCO ended his yelling by warning us that if we did not “get right with Jesus” then our rifles would not provide spiritual strength despite the bible quotes on our ACOG gunsights and that we would be considered “spiritual cripples” to our fellow units and soldiers. He didn’t say it in so many words, but the message was clear; if anything bad happened in a combat situation, it would be the fault of anyone who had not accepted Jesus Chris in the “right way”. I have never felt so ashamed and scared in my life. I have never hated myself so much for not speaking out. So I thought of my wife and children and endured. Every time I looked at my rifle with that Trijicon ACOG gunsight/scope with the biblical quote from the book of John (8:12), it would make me sick. If I had tried to protest, it would have made me dead. And if I’m dead I’m of no use to my wife and children.

I’m at a loss for words. “Appalling” seems inadequate. But I’m sure JD will be along soon to tell us this is no big deal. Or it’s all made up. Or whatever excuse he has to come up with to continue to maintain that there’s no problem at all in the military with this sort of thing and that we’re all communists to imagine there is.

  4. John says:

That is a very interesting story, but it does not change anything. I have never heard of any Christian Military Fellowship, and I can assure you that me, my preacher, my church, and every man in my church would fight against such horrible behavior on the part of the NCO, assuming the story is true.

Christ never intended that his name be used in the commision of violence. However, he would also never want the US to stand by and allow oppressive, violent groups such as Al-Queda and Hamas to go unchallenged. Allowing someone who is weak to die while I stand idly by is not Godly, it is cowardly.

The story you share is one, unverified, story that completely pales in comparison to the $350 million given by America to support Haiti along with the billions of dollars given every year to support poor countries around the world.

I do hope they remove the scripture from the firearm equipment. I would not want to use a piece of equipment that had a religious scripture from a faith other than my own. I definitely understand why a muslim american would not like that, and I think they have a good point.

However, my point is that America is not the bad guy, we are the ones fighting the bad guys. If you don’t think so, just remember what happened in Europe about 60 years. America fought for everyone else back then, and we are still doing it today. Americans recognize that we are in a war of ideals in which some very angry people have decided its ok to strap on a bomb and blow up children in marketplaces.

That is a fight I don’t think we will ever stop.

  5. hopesome says:

    John

America has a pride that far outways its christianity and in so doing is muddying the waters of both.

It is a pride that is of itself. We Americans are proud of our Nation, proud of our soldiers, proud of our standing, proud that we love the lord and thats where you as a nation are in the Blind Spot.

Pride starts wars it never in the end wins them for what pride leaves behind turns the victory it won into someone elses need to win and so the cycle of violence continues.

    War is an argument.

It can be resolved if we want it to be but not by a gun, not by a bomb. We to some extent solve arguments the whole time in divorce, when our kids get into trouble, when the neighbour next door demands you chop your tree down, when husbands demand the attention they don’t feel they get and when wives feel they donh’t get enough time for themselves and so on SO WHY IN THE WORLD ARE WE ON A ‘NATION’ LEVEL UNABLE TO SORT THINGS OUT.

    Power, presitge, pomp and greed.

It is good to protect ones nation be it on a family level or national level but if we need a gun or bullet to do it then we are failures in the art of diplomacy, conversation, discussion and LOVE.

I lived overseas for many years and was in Europe at the time Britain was ‘striking on a grand scale’. Being British I received many vindictive, nasty, negativity comments on the scale that Britain was setting a bad example and so on. They don’t mince words in Europe!. It was a great lesson for me in diplomacy and tact and though I have been born British and have spent many years in its land I have no illusions as to its shortfall’s and so was able to stand my and Britains ground during that time with both truth and integrity. America needs to understand as do most nations on the planet their shortfalls, its called humility, and Americas National Pride is what gets the back up of those less well off and gets Mr Bush a shoe now and again!. Its a good lesson to try and stand outside of your nation to view it and Jesus will always be the one to show you ‘the way’ you are, have come, and need to go to reach a greater portion of the humility, passion, love and compassion that grants a ‘peace that passeth all (human) understanding when it comes to others shortfalls and our own.

I love Britain, my hope howeve does not sit in its hope but in the Lords ability to show me his.

A weapon of mass destruction is who man is and can be with any weapon be it his tongue, his will, his desires or a gun. We must lay down all if we want a lasting peace. Its up to us all to want it desperately enough to claim it and so far we don’t seem desperate enough on a world stage. I have had a long Journey with America and its people and have always had a heart for them but it must turn from being a Proud nation to one that we can all approach, including Iran, Russia and others and find a welcome just as Jesus welcomed all of us. Love bares no pride for itself or its well-being but only seeks to bring a unity we can all share in and be a part of. Its a tall order as things stand at the moment but for my part I have a son who when I leave this world I want to know will be safe and have a peace to carry him all throughout his journey here on earth and beyond. My desire for just that is what keeps me seeking peace and trying to be at peace and so to lay down my life to take on the Lords was as nothing when witnessing his desire for me was also peace. When we truly love another then no matter what it takes we will keep on pursuing until at the end of our human endeavours we take on his and then together join a great army that transcends all of mans. Love hurts and we hurt with alcohol, sexual desire, bullets, bombs, and all the world has to offer. When we hurt in him and with him then the agony of anothers suffering is so great we die a little every day at its witness. MERCY IS OURS FIRST AND THEN FOR THOSE WHO COME TO TEST IT. I hope that my endeavours will gift my family and then they will go on to gift not only theirs but every naton and nationality that comes their way be it in peace or hostility. When I have reached that place then so will they, Its up to me as a mother to protect, not smother, not withold truth, not deny their grief and pain but to go before them and ‘make a way forward that will ever be a place of ‘hope and home’ while taking into account there differences along the way. The lord said when I got that right then I could ‘go out into all nations’ and BE RIGHT. Its tough with many tears along the way and many ‘tearing hair out ‘ moments but we must not give up or give in. JESUS NEVER DOES AND NOW NEITHER DO I. God Bless.
