As I mentioned this morning, last night evangelist Todd Bentley had a surprise in his service. Several men, after (or as)the offering was taken, got up to publicly, and loudly, confront Bentley. Not only did Bentley’s security ask them to leave, according to this blog entry, by a witness who is a Bentley admirer the local police were called as well to quell any possible disturbance.
Thanks to a friend who tips me off about this Twitter “tweet” by “writer and director” Roy Petersen today.

So, according to this tweet, it seems to be apparently a genuine effort by some to publicly disagree with Todd Bentley and call him to account. Hopefully Mr. Petersen will share at least some of what he has before Bentley’s minions control the spin on this. Thus far, it is Bentley’s friends and the evangelist himself (adopting his best martyr face) who are talking and it would be interesting to know why the men in the service felt the need to do as they did and hear their account of what actually happened.
I myself would think it a bit much to call the police to get the protestors to leave when Bentley already has a security team. One sad result of this is that it may probably be harder for those who want to keep a peaceful, and jaundiced, eye on the evangelist, as Bentley will probably insist on keeping a tighter screen on his audience. Extra security might be in full force.

These people feel confronted let along being confronted as they were at Lakeland by the group of persons
Sounds like they can’t take any criticism because they don’t want to.
It sound like nothing more than controll games from a certain book of rules that these connected groups play by

I was treated in that manner in 2004 at Extreme Prophetic
Vancouver at the Cordial Hall on E Pender & Templeton by Faytene
Kryskow where she said to me, “I don’t like you, God Bless you”
sounds like and oxymoron then “I rebuke you in the name of Jesus”
and “We’ll phone the Police”
I should’ve phoned the Police on her and the men at Lakeland
should’ve phoned the Police on Todd Bentley.
I’d seen Faytene Kryskow at Todd Bentley’s Fresh Fire in 2004 at
Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly
I see a similarity in the mindsets of these two persons

Believe it or not that was the precise moment I walked out of the room. Honestly folks its so true.

When someone puts on a performance to the extent we have witnessed of late we wonder if anything that goes on in that arena is based in truth.
Were they a ‘plant’, were they genuinely angry and hustled away, no doubt still to fume having not been allowed to throw a rotten tomato, they certainly picked the right moment with all the TV crews there ‘and all’, so we are once again left with a rather large ponderance coming from a place that seems to exude them.
Jesus would leave us in no such doubts now would he.

As I implied in my earlier post, this isn’t something I would do myself–partly due to my personality. But the fact that this happened is newsworthy (in a blogging sense), so I shall be keeping an eye on it…
Thank you for confirming that the incident took place. I was so horrified at them asking for offerings and using the bible to justify it yet again and saying ‘make your cheques out to’ that I saved myself the fury and ‘left the headphones and made a brew’. Its such a quagmire don’t you think. I wondered just how many people were there for the cameras and the ‘fame’, then we get the hype of it all, the worship music whipped up into another notch so that the crowd will also get whipped up, theres the video advertisment for the ‘upcoming conference’ which reminds me of being at the cinema and I was wondering when the ‘popcorn’ and hot dogs would appear!. There seems to be a lack of reverence about the whole thing and I sometimes wonder if they know who their messing with. Then you have the Morning Star Kingdom element of it all and their congratulating of each other and you think to yourself Lord just you and me.
Still in revelations he did show us what the church had become and after these demonstrations of ’something or other’ I can see what he meant.
I love to worship and I love a sermon that relates to ‘the reality of life. I can worship anywhere, I can ‘church anywhere but only when first I have been to ‘his place’ can I be safe in mans.
Its wearing me out.

Thank goodness there are those that refused to be ‘fooled’.
Has this type ministry become more involved with the rituals of their religion, than the God of worship? When you go to this type of healing ministry, is it the entertainment as the music plays, or is it genuine heartfelt praise and worship to God?
According to scripture, God does not take pleasure in our outward expressions, if the inward faith is not there. Keep in mind that God did get tired of the sacrifices sheeps, goats, etc.
Lets hope our faith does not become watered down an impure.
Just so everyone knows, Rick didn’t put the motorcycle picture in his post, I did. I appreciate his update and his journalistic skills in staying on top of a story.
I would have put a keystone cop in his first post given it’s another Bentley story, but calling police is very serious stuff.
If Mr. Bentley and his friends at MorningStar Ministries (grey coats/blue coats teaching) are chosing police to handle critics, there is cause for concern.
People have been killed in this kinds of healing services from being trampled, etc.
Confrontation in services is not a new thing.
Stephen Strader called police and laid charges against a guy named Brant Russo who was feeding the homeless at Lakeland after Bentley fled. He later dropped the charges and wrote to Russo:
“We do not know what to do with them. We are not equipped to deal with them.”
The only lense neo-charismatics have to look through at is ‘they are of Satan, they are demonic.’ It is what they have been taught, what they have been conditioned to believe and leadership is happy to oblige them.

We need to find out all that happened, certainly, but if Bentley did overreact and call the cops, that is very, very frightening. In decades of attending Christian events, I have *never* seen police called in…
Bentley already has security. Calling police too is scary…

Its scarey that they bring that kind of reaction ‘out of people/ and then react thereof. ‘Unleashing’ anything (demonic or otherwise) should best be left to the experts.
Demonic, satanic, and possessed are words that in the hands of some are easy to bandy about and use to ‘own advantage.
To fully understand you would not be so irreverant of either or all.

Calling the police gives them a sense of legitimacy. This way, Todd Bentley and crew are on the “right side of the law” and even the police are “defending” them. I think a lot of it has to do with the appearance of legitimacy for them and undermining the people attacking them. I doubt anyone will try a similar tactic in the future with the knowledge that the police will be called!
It would be interesting to know if the men were actually charged with anything.
Thank you Robert Burke – you’ve expressed so well and nailed so many aspects of this thing in your poem, which also speaks to some of the shackles of my life that I’m still struggling against. Tie the hands, rob the voice, control the mind, paralyze the will – and I feel sick to my stomach realizing this, but don’t many of these things also play into how child predators groom and lure children?
Bab-bam, biker-boot, ex-con Bentley with a lurid past that he hasn’t put behind him, covered head to toe in post-conversion mid-ministering tattoos, calling the police against those who are insisting on purity – now that’s an irony. But we are living in days spoken of when evil will be called good, and good evil. To me this is showing Bentley’s true colours even more than his recent behaviour has.
As I was present for this event, being one of those demonic aura giver-offers, I may be able to shed some light on our reasons for what we did. Just to clear things up, no it was not staged by Bentley, no we did not know beforehand Oprah’s crew would be there, and no we aren’t demonic. We are Bible-believing Christians who, according to 1 Corinthians 5, are supposed to confront Christians who are in sin.

Would like to know who your crew was, who in the building called police, whether charges were laid, if there was any discussion between you and MorningStar, consequences for you and your group going back on the property etc.
I had a strong feeling that Todd Bentley is at Morningstar to manipulate people to “give” the bucks. Just reading what is on his Tweeter site can open your minds eye to this.
Michael, you are not a demonic aura giver- offer. What you did was stand up against a very wrong force, and Morningstar was forced to retaliate.
Hang in there long enough and most if not all the truth will prevail. Just keep in mind, Morningstar can’t fight the all seeing eye of God!

In the past, I have attempted to communicate with Todd Bentley, but there has been no reply. Please be informed that I was nowhere near MorningStar in Fort Mill, SC on the day in question, and have never been to any MorningStar meeting.
“Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:11-12).

Just a quick note to anyone who is involved with confrontation of this type… It has been my best experience to phone the police ahead of time and let them know you will be there and what you will be doing. That way, when they do show up, they are well-informed and are only there in a peace-keeping capacity. Use the law to your advantage.
Yes, the criminals will still try and twist it to their advantage, but it’s much harder to do when you have the upper hand, especially when you know what they will do ahead of time and plan for it. This tactic really catches them off guard and makes them look rather foolish.

And if anybody is wondering what Dick and Joan are up to now, well, they’re back at it and they believe they are much stronger now. As a matter of fact, in the Unite For Dominion conference held at Calgary Full Gospel Church (Len Zoeteman’s aka Prophet Z’s church) from January 28 – 30, 2010, Dick even stated that the affair happened by the hand of God and that it needed to happen to take him to the next level. He employed the old sales pitch/convincer, “what the devil meant for evil, God is using for good”. And people are dumb enough to buy this garbage. As a matter of fact, they were eating it up.
Just a note for interest sake, other speakers at the Unite For Dominion conference included Francis Armstrong, Bill Prankard and Faytene Kryskow.
Watch for Dick coming to a city near you! He’s also using his real last name of Deweert now and operating a business (ministry) called Dick Deweert Ministries Association, otherwise known as “Unite For Dominion”.

My husband was one of the men there to rebuke Todd Bentley and Morningstar. Like Michael, I can assure you that this was not staged. It was a sincere outreach by godly men to speak the truth in love. They spoke the word of God, then peacefully left when escorted out. The Morningstar machine meant it (the expulsions) for evil, but God meant it for good as an Oprah crew and an independent documentarian were outside wanting to interview them.
I like todd bentley because the lord used him to help my friend. before the lakeland revival, a friend of mine whom i looked up to in the lord was going through an intense spiritual crisis. they no longer believed that anyone could know God personally and had stopped pursueing the lord. my friend went on vacation in scotland and while she was there she stayed with a christian family. this family watched the lakeland revival every night. the first night my friend was there she could only watch the revival for ten minutes before she got up and left the room in disgust because she knew it was all fake.
the next night though the family was watching the revival again, so she joined. She watched a little longer though, but still with very skeptical eyes.
The following night, while watching the revival, she suddenly experienced the lord like she never had before. And she began to cry very hard. She said the experience was like getting reborn again, again.
She now is a worship leader and missionary.
the lord used todd to change her life that night and i am so thankful to the lord. and I am also grateful for the people he uses.

I can well understand why there was protest and the need for it. A watered down message or Lord is not something we should accept nor be expected to follow and we should never be gifted him as entertainment value.
A documentary should be fair and just and I hope that that will be the case with Oprah but with the element of HOLLYWOOD always present I have my doubts. If it burst the bubble of Morningstars ego then good, self belief was riding too high in that arena.

Fashion and fads are not just in the towns and cities shopping malls but also in the ministries forecourts of ‘welcome’.
WE REQUIRE A LASTING PLACE OF HOPE not just a fashionable one.
i like Todd – it always confuses the heck out of me when the Lord seems to use someone in spite of so many things being wrong with their ministry and life – but it’s wonderful that your friend has found revitalized faith. I always have to strictly remind myself of several things: that even Jesus “entrusted himself to no man”, and that we must be very careful to follow Jesus and not any person or ministry that He might use in our life, that He is able to make even a donkey speak and rocks cry out if it serves His purposes, that He keeps His own word and makes the most of every opportunity (whether that opportunity is from a good ministry or not), that the gospel is preached from false motive and true, and that there are vessels of mixture talked about in God’s word.
We rejoice and give thanks for the things God does, but all the glory goes to Him alone – I don’t believe we should ever relax our vigilence when there is so much deception going around. I have to remind myself a lot that just because someone is used by God one minute does not mean at all that it is a sign of God’s approval on that ministry as a whole, or that we are obligated by gratitude to follow their ministry from that moment on. I hope and pray you and your friend are careful to test everything by the word of God and to prayerfully read your bibles a lot! God bless you both.
The Whole Armor of God
Well, like Paul he defended his apostleship and authority of the gospel. I think we as christians should resist any who promote subltle ways for us to earn salvation through Jesus Christ.
Now, I just read on Todd’s Tweeter, how excited he is about an interview with Lisa ling. From what little I know about her, I have a hard time getting past her in the secular sense. Now, as she appears in a professional sense, can she relay to the layperson?
I wonder how much prep time Morningstar had for this interview. Hmm.
Oh well, in Ephesians 6 there is the subject of christians wearing the whole armor of God:
1. The belt of truth
2. Shoes of peace
3. Shield of faith
4. Salvation helment
5. Sword of the spirit
6 Breastplate of rightousness
Paul told all christians to watch and stay alert. I would say that’s not a bad idea.

Nice anecdotal story that you shared. Is this supposed to justify Bentley’s anti-Biblical activities? An “ends justifies the means” argument is not God’s way. Notice how He told Samuel to deal with King Saul.
To balance your story, we also have to consider the stories of those who desired healing at Lakeland and then subsequently died of the diseases that TB proclaimed they were healed from.
Regarding your friend, if her “ministry” involves passing on some of the false teaching that she learned from Bentley, then that’s not a good thing.

His services can have oxymorons of many things, so, it can be possible to have some really good experiences there as well as some not so good.
What I wonder about is this New Apostolic Revolution, NAR or Third Wave, this kind of stuff seems scary.
How the groups are connected with each other as well.
My 1st Red Flag was at a Worship Invasion in 2004 here persons were running around speaking in tongues with no interpretations and slaying persons in the spirit, something seemed a little different about the atmosphere.
I’d seen Faytene Kryskow at Fresh Fire as well as some from Worship Invasion
So, Todd Bentley, Faytene Kryskow, Ed & Wendy Rubuliak and The Abbotsford Christian Assembly must be NAR but they sure try to hide it
The 2nd was a Fresh Fire 2004, Abbotsford Pentecostal Assembly. This same person from Worship Invasion was running around laying hands on persons up there but had no Fresh Fire name tag. He looked around 5′10″150 lbs looked half white/half african.
3rd was Worship Invasion at Peace Portal Alliance where they quickly said to me, “Do you know you are never allowed to go to a Fresh Fire Conference again because you prayed over a woman an took the ring off of her finger”
Seemed partly set up/slander/prophetic vision
4th was Extreme Prophetic with Faytene Kryskow where she seemed to catch wind of this and was as abusive as they were.

These groups are connected and rely on the same tactics but how long can it last?
I personally know a girl in North Carolina who had a paralyzed right arm since birth. She went to morningstar and one of todd bentleys meetings. Instantaneously while some were praying for her, she was healed. She now has full mobility and feeling in her right arm where she had not had any before that night. praise the lord!!

There does indeed seem to be a ‘linking’ in and a call for ‘one voice’ among those who wish to ‘take over’ our journey to the TRUTH.

When you are in a position of ‘power’ then you can always ‘gift’ in and of that power. Its where it comes from that counts.
When you understand that power ‘which is what the enemy is after’ has no relevance to, in the Father, your position with him then and only then can you receive it. Mans power is collective ie; get a group of people together and you can ‘raise up arms and become an army. When you hear that kind of rhetoric, which is getting louder and louder among those that want power’ then you can bet your bottom dollar its man intended and based and not the Fathers voice.
Last week in his Sunday Service Mr Joyner said that ‘he could well have been instrumental in getting Sarah Palin to quit her job because she ‘has an annointing’ that was ‘far greater’. What does that say:
Don’t keep you eyes on the ball but the one who’s bouncing it.
As the lies get lounder and more convincing so will we.
To “i like Todd” – I’m sure there must be some wisdom in my comment somewhere, because it comes from the word of God, but keep in mind that was only one small piece of the puzzle – there is so much more and I hope you and your friend will take some time to seriously look at what is being said here and elsewhere about Todd. These are very serious days of apostasy, that we are warned about in God’s word (2 Thess.) – we are commanded to test the spirits because there is a counterfeit anointing, with counterfeit miracles, and Jesus said that many will do miracles and prophesy in His name whom He never knew! Your “life” depends on it, it truly is not a fun time in the house of God in the last days. Todd Bentley’s kind of ministry, at the very best, will not allow you to mature in the Lord – it will keep you as children, believing in a kind of fairy tale kind of Christianity – like sand castles in the air, and I think we’ve all heard of sinking sand….I’ve been to a few of Todd’s gatherings and used to go all-out for this kind of “prophetic” ministry – hope you will read the gospels and really objectively compare Jesus’ ministry to what Todd is doing. You will notice it doesn’t even “feel” the same…don’t let go of that healty dose of skepticism you and your friend have!

At Summer lectures at both Regent & Vancouver School of Theology where persons who usually go to Regent would go to both.
Wouldn’t it be pertinent for someone to send Lisa Ling all the videos, lies, etc. of Todd Bentley so they don’t end up doing a positive story on him? If that happens the wolf will really be back.
For those blessed by Todd, it’s amazing how God does work through anyone. We’re all sinners. But Todd is a liar and always has been. He built his ministry on lie after lie.
