Sarah Palin on 100 Huntley Street! You betcha!

BURLINGTON, ONTARIO, CANADA – April 20, 2010. She has been criticized, ostracized, loved, hated and imitated, but she is changing the face of politics. An interview with Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska, U.S. Vice Presidential Candidate, pro-life supporter and advocate for children with special needs, will be shown in a special edition of Always Good News on CTS TV (www.ctstv.com), Wednesday, April 21st at 5:30pm EST and again at 12:00 noon EST on April 22nd.The entire interview will also be featured within Canada’s longest running daily TV program, 100 Huntley Street, airing the following Tuesday on April 27th at 9 am on CTS TV and Global.

As the only Canadian Television interview on this visit north, Connie Smith who hosts Always Good News(AGN) will be tracking Palin’s meteoric rise from small town Alaska hockey Mom, to international celebrity, and most recently the darling of the Tea Party Movement that has shaken the U.S political system with it’s strong opposition to growing government and higher taxation.

“The interview was great”, says Ms. Smith, “It was one of only two granted by Governor Palin. The other was a print news outlet. I caught up with her on camera after she spoke to a crowd of 900 people at Carmen’s Banquet Centre in Hamilton, Ontario, recently where she was instrumental in raising $50,000 for The Charity of Hope for needy children.”  Connie Smith has been one of the most recognizable and engaging personalities on the air in Southern Ontario for more than 30 years. Since September 2009, Ms. Smith has been the Producer and host of Always Good News seen daily on CTS.

Sarah Palin is the author of the New York Times best seller, “Going Rogue:  An American Life”, a TV commentator and host of an upcoming multi-part reality style series on her home state of Alaska. As a wife, mother of five and grandmother, she has a unique, grass roots approach to issues that resonate with conservative individuals but is considered controversial by many media outlets.

Michael Coren got Ann Coulter to interview on his CTS and call her a fellow journalist.
This is ‘television you can believe in.’ You betcha. The 12+ million dollar ex-governor will be a brief viewer boost to the struggling and battered company. She drew a full crowd to the Southern Baptist Convention Women of Joy conference in Louisville  Kentucky last week.

Connie Smith works out of the Ontario Crossroads CTS studio and unlike many religious show hosts/producers has solid experience and talent. This will be interesting, you think?  Think Smith can steer Palin away from her infamous word salads?

“We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada. And I think now, isn’t that ironic?” –Sarah Palin

“I didn’t really had a good answer, as so often — is me. But then somebody sent me the other day, Isaiah 49:16, and you need to go home and look it up. Before you look it up, I’ll tell you what it says though. It says, hey, if it was good enough for God, scribbling on the palm of his hand, it’s good enough for me, for us. – Sarah Palin

I don’t know if I should Buenos Aires or Bonjour, or… this is such a melting pot. This is so beautiful. I love this diversity. Yeah. There were a whole bunch of guys named Tony in the photo line, I know that. Sarah Palin in Hamilton

You know how many people ask me on the campaign trail if I was Canadian? They think that we talk alike. We say ‘eh’ too, in Alaska. Never thought anything of it until some reporters… I’m the dingy one and they’re asking me if I’m Canadian as I’m running for VP. These reporters, because of the way that I talk. I feel right at home here with you all, I think we share a lot with that accent. – Sarah Palin in Hamilton Globe & Mail transcript.

Update: A commenter writes: “It’ll be interesting to see how many times Palin uses words like: redemption, grace, salvation, forgiveness. I’d like to see a word cloud of the text of her interview and one of the address printed in the Globe and Mail.” The word cloud from the Hamilton charity appearance is easy. The CTS/100 Huntley Street interview, not so much. You’d have to be a dedicated Palin fan to transcribe the Smith/Palin  interview and have lots of time to kill. I’m not and I don’t. ;^)

  1. Torontonian says:

    I don’t believe I’ve heard a single clear statement
from that Palin woman; she seems incapable of it.
The text from the Globe and Mail bears out
    my statement.

Since she has such difficulty expressing herself, I
wonder what she will have as a message to the
evangelical viewer/listener. I can only expect her
statements to be as disconnected and stream-
of-consciousness as anything from Faytene Kryskow.

With speakers like these, no wonder the evangelical
community feels itself marginalised. These people
    with their pronunciations and incomprehensible
verbiage push the whole community to the edges
of mainstream belief and then complain of their
    being misunderstood.

It’ll be interesting to see how many times Palin uses
words like: redemption, grace, salvation, forgiveness.
I’d like to see a word cloud of the text of her interview
and one of the address printed in the Globe and Mail.

I’m sorry, I really think this perpetual quitter is in it
for the money and nothing else. What’s worse is
that there are enough pigeons out there willing to
be separated from their money just to hear this woman.

And CTS wonders why it is collapsing in on itself?

This is a prime example of the “why” of programming
    failure.

  3. True says:

I guess it is true. Christians shoot their own. This site proves it. Jesus gave us the ultimate gift by letting His heart be broken on the Cross. How many more times do we have to try a break it again?

  4. Chris says:

“Battered”? “Collapsing in on itself”? Ok…

  5. Bene Diction says:

Not one blog has picked up on this.
    Not one media outlet yet.

The King Ralph thing got more attention.

The news in the US around Mrs. Palin is about a trial.
Most of the eyeballs for the interview will probably come on YouTube. Now that Crossroads has re-purchased or bartered air time with NRB (National Religious Broadcasters US Direct TV) they may get an uptick for this show.

Crossroads has a marketing person, after what has occurred, a marketing person is a smart decision. I’m sure the newsletter to the core base of viewers gives this a mention.
    That’s just good business.
The interview has been cross packaged from the none profit to the charity and paced out for maximum benefit.

CTS have a couple of trained, professional on-air staff who can cross over to the Huntley set and do a half decent interview.

They didn’t say whether they paid her.
At least now you and I could write Crossroads, ask the marketing guy and get a response.

Chris, why do the terms’ battered’ or ‘collapsing’ in on itself surprise you? (Since Crossroads has merged it’s board with CTS, governance is centralized)

I’m interested in hearing what you think.

  6. Mark Byron says:

I don’t think the Women of Joy conferences are SBC per se. The organizer is a Baptist but it didn’t seem to have a direct SBC connection where the national or state conventions were supporting it.

However, it is interesting that Palin is hanging out in largely apolitical evangelical settings along with the usual suspects on the North American right. Women of Joy didn’t seem political in nature and I don’t recall the charismatics at 100 Huntley majoring in politics.

  7. Chris says:

Centralized is a long way from battered. Did you actually think they were ever seperate? Maybe on paper, but in reality… (Side-Question: Are they actually merging? So can CTS now accept donations?)

I guess the image in my head while reading your posts on CTS et al is of a dark room, where fat old white men smoke cigars, scheming over their next move to take over the world.

I think you mistake ignorance for intention.

  8. Hopesome says:

Politics and Jesus and the mouthpiece of ……………………

You can dress it up, you can ‘wrap’ it in Jesus, you can even be completely overcome by its charm or flirtatious delight or ‘bright shining light’, but at the end of the day Sarah and her ‘mouth’ bring forth venom and hate and a complete lack of dignity to proceedings that could possibly end in melt down not only for the U.S. but us all. If eye candy is what the rebulicans require to get them elected then ‘god must indeed help America’. Her politics are based on only rhetoric and not depth of, or an understanding of, to any great degree!. She facinates, always a dangerous thing, she flirts, and bedazzles! and taps into the resentment and need for ‘fight back’ thats out there in the populus ‘waiting for expression. If Jesus was on the podium then non of her whiles would be!.

Charm offensive! deadly!, Greed for ‘attention’ pathetic, politics and diplomacy zero, her religious ‘back up by vested interest ………., not going to go there or my rhetoric, unprintable!,

Other than that ‘she’s not really my cup of tea!’

She’s a ‘fire lighter’ for all the wrong reasons.

Do wake up people or there won’t be any roses left to smell

  9. true says:

Yesterday was the birthday of Adolf Hitler. I guess he wasn’t Christian enough for BD, Hopesome, Howie51 and Torontonian to take a shot at.

  10. Bene D says:

Hi Mark, good to see you back.

Yeah, politics is a slice of what started Crossroads on it’s downward spiral. David Mainse did the damage to his audience middle when he publicly jumped on C-80.

In 2006 Mainse went to shake Harper’s hand on the election stump and security blocked him. Camera caught that. He spoke out of turn on air last year slamming media for paying attention.
Not like some US televangelists, but we are looking at different cultures and expectations.

    Chris:

    Are they actually merging?
    Would openly restructured fit?

    March 2010
    “Crossroads Christian Communications
Inc. (CCCI) and Crossroads Television System Inc. (CTS TV) have each announced a comprehensive reorganization to position their resources behind a combined new vision.”

    April 2010
“Crossroads Christian Communications today announced the Board of Directors serving for the 2010 year. The nine-member board brings expertise and geographical diversity to the vision of Crossroads and CTS Television.”

Nine member board instead of what; two previously separate ones on paper, and separate board nights?

-The charity revenues were said to be down 30% summer 2009
-CTS told the CRTC 2009 was a deficit year, 2010 would also be
    -Staff and volunteers dropped
    -A lot of reruns
    - non responsive web presence, mail, email and call not returned
    -loss of US market
-hosts acknowledged finders in a targeted 14 million dollar ponzi scheme, most of the 100 victims close to Crossroads
    - a public expectation there would be a charity licence handed to a CTS initiative because they are them. Not.

Interesting visual image. Not fat old white men smoking cigars; I think plain florescent lit count room, and computer mailing lists well out of the way of staff. I see tired, dusty. Older white men running around without the cigars, but lots of type A attitude; a median viewing age of 54, shrinking, stalled niche market, old ship creaking.:^)

Crossroads isn’t going anywhere, there is a lot of money at that board table, there is government money and foundation money for the asking, as well as some older, still rich donors.

With Grace TV licensed, Crossroads/CTS isn’t competing anymore to be the worst with The Miracle Channel.
Vision assets sold to ZoomerMedia Vision(S-Vox) foundation in place, they are well positioned to carry on.

    Ignorance? Sometimes, sure. Intention? Sometimes.

  11. true says:

    BD:

You didn’t answer my question earlier. Is everything that you’re saying true?

  12. Bene Diction says:

    I didn’t answer true.

    What are you looking for?
I agree with Dan, but I don’t know if this is what you want.

“I guess it is true. Christians shoot their own. This site proves it. Jesus gave us the ultimate gift by letting His heart be broken on the Cross. How many more times do we have to try a break it again?”

Yes, Christians sometimes shoot their own.

  13. True says:

    BD:

This is based purely on the comments you’ve made. Why is it hard for you to tell the truth? Are you uncomfortable with accountability? All I’m asking is everything you’re saying true?

  14. Therese says:

Is Sarah Palin a Christian or a politician/public figure? Should believers not critique or discuss politics if the political persons also happen to be believers? Or perhaps only do so under cover of secrecy?

For me this is where the pure waters of the gospel get murky, when it mixes with the mud of politics.

That said, Sarah Palin as a public figure comes across to me as someone who doesn’t seem serious or informed enough to make a good high-level political leader responsible for making serious and weighty decisions that affect the running of a state or nation. She also doesn’t seem to have the courage of her convictions which to me is a necessary quality of good leadership, as evidenced by her evasiveness and blather of nothings when asked direct questions by non-supporters, from what I have seen. Her personal beliefs are her own, and for all I know she might be a faithful and growing follower of Jesus Christ in her personal life, but I don’t believe that should keep anyone from openly assessing her abilities and influence as a political entity, since she freely chose to enter that arena.

What bother me is that the church (media at least) seems to be rallying around a politician with little more than celebrity mystique to recommend her just because she is a Christian? Another sign of the times and evidence of how worldly and shallow both the church and politics in North America has become in my opinion.

  15. Lawrence says:

Pro 10:10 He who winks the eye causes sorrow.

She winks a LOT. The bible says the person who winks is a LIAR. “Just kiddin’ hope you’d know”. Kiddin’? AKA “Lying/liar”.

Also, she is 100% zionist, not a good thing in light of where God sends alll zionists.

    http://www.scribd.com/laws632

  16. true says:

    Therese:

You frequent this site. Don’t you think BD should answer the question I posed in comments 11 and 13?

  17. Hopesome says:

    True:

Maybe Adolf and his birthday are important to you but quite frankly having a world left to live in is of more import to me and ‘exercising (or is it exorcising!) the deceptions of those that are trying to ‘rule it’ especially when they pull Jesus out of the hat to give them some extra cred as and when they need it.

True critique can and does forward a circumstance, without it we would all be ‘yes men’.

  18. Sean says:

    “True”,

How about a few more questions?

Is everything true that Sarah Palin ever said?

Is everything true that Pat Robertson said?

    How about Rick Warren?

How about you? Is EVERYTHING that you ever said and commented on true “True”? If your answer is “yes” then you are probably lying. If your answer is “no”, then that would be hypocritical demanding such a high standard from someone else when you cannot live up to that standard.

Another example of hypocrisy is your willingness to “shoot” a fellow Christian, John MacArthur.

  19. True says:

    Hopesome:

I never said Hitler was important to me, therefore inappropriate for you to assume. I’m all for “True critique”, if it is true, therefore my questions in 11 and 13. If the comments are not true then the critique is wrong. Don’t you think BD should answer the questions?

  20. true says:

    Sean:

Thank you for validating my point. It perfectly applies this blog. I was just sad to see John MacArthur shoot himself in a secular forum.

  21. Therese says:

True – in a general sense, whether or not someone ‘should’ answer any question I would say depends for one thing on the spirit in which it was asked..it’s certainly not a sin to not answer a qestion.

If you want to join the discussion under this post and offer your opinions or state what and why you think something isn’t true, then why don’t you just do that? I think honestly your question is too vague and general – it would be more courteous and productive if you would at least qualify your question if you want it answered..Bene did try to respond but without a better idea of what you’re getting at I doubt you’ll get an answer that will satisfy whatever it is you have on your mind.

  22. Hopesome says:

    True;

    I don’t make assumptions.

Truth is what exactly; The variation of/on a theme, assuming, witnessing,

Only in the foretelling of it do we give it a name ie; ours

  23. True says:

    Therese

This blog demands many ministries and individuals to be accountable. If it makes comments that are not true than this blog itself has no credibility. I’m hoping BD, with integrity, will commit to only making true statements and edit those that are untrue.

The question is very simple: BD is everything you’ve said true on this blog? Yes or No? If BD is a Christian, it should be very easy to answer.

Therese has everything you said on this site true?

  24. Therese says:

I’ll say this much, if Hitler were alive today, I sure hope there’d be some blogs where his life and politics were under active scrutiny and criticism. Who knows but that if there had been such a thing as blogs back in that day, he might never have risen to power.

  25. true says:

    Therese

Some would say blogs and the internet helped raise Obama to power. Some would also say blogs helped raise Osama to power too.

  26. Therese says:

Some say a lot of things, some say too little. Have a nice day True. ;)

  27. True says:

In other words, the blogs didn’t stop those people from coming to power.

    @True #3

Presupposing you are commenting at my quoting Keith Olbermann who refers to Sarah as an idiot.

Sarah commands a public stage, has publicly hinted at wanting the presidential office. She is fair game!

    I’m not avoiding your question.
I don’t understand what you are looking for.

Are you asking the question using the word ‘true’ as a noun, verb or adjective? Some of or all of?

The root of the word goes to tree, wood, firmness.

“every day, Sarah Palin gets dressed, clicks her heels and says, “There’s no place like Gnome”

    Heart breaking isn’t it?

    Cheers
    H

  34. Torontonian says:

I watched the Palin “interview” and found it wanting.
The first 10 minutes of the telecast was background
material probably provided by her entourage and had
    no CTSTV contribution.

The interview starts at 12 minutes in and is simply
two talking heads. Palin says nothing new and nothing
    inspiring.

Near the close of the tape, in the epilogue to the
interview, Connie Smith says that Sarah Palin almost
became the next Vice-President of the US. In fact
there was an 8 million vote difference between the
Democrats and Republicans. Why she would make
such a patently false statement is beyond this person’s
    comprehension. Maybe she’s star struck.

I cannot see how the “interview” could have any
further syndication to any other broadcaster.
The quotation marks around the noun should say
    it all.

If CTS TV stumped up money for this venture, then
    they’ve lost it all.

  35. Bene D says:

I did a post awhile back when they announced Palin had been booked. about the Hamilton charity overhead and expenses.
This took 2 minutes to look up.

The US Federal Election Commission 2008 election.

    # of votes counted 131.3 million

    electoral:

    Obama/Biden 365
    McCain/Palin 173

    popular:

    Dem 69,456,897
    Reb 59,934,814

  36. Hopesome says:

    True is, ‘in my opinion’, I hasten to add! looking for; a) commitmen, b) a place to, as a result, fire from, c) a crelibility, d) acountability and in one sense answers and truth, so really not much different to what we are all hoping for;

    Trust is the issue.

How do I know I can trust you ……………………

Sarah Palin has too many strings attached to too many agendas that go with the dollar signs shining in her ‘eyes’. Sincerity runs shallow and hope rides high! – for position, power, and in truth deception! Shes now saying that leaders not politicians are the way forward; well you would wouldn’t you if your knowledge was three cents sort of a windfall! Qualities of any leadership of quality are just not evident to me and knowing how deception likes to ‘honour his own as and when, it bothers me that with the nuclear situation so on the edge that one word from the wrong mouth will blow us all up, and for some that answer would be just fine cos the mess then would be ‘out of their/our hands and we could all be beautifully raptured home! Well ok but home is supposedly where the heart is so where is their home and heart!, scares the ‘life’ out of me quite frankly.

One thing true, ‘if you are a christian you shouldn’t have any bother answering my question, I believe you said to Bene!, That is one of the biggest misnomers that has deceived many and is riding high right now!. Christians are not the perfection that some would have us believe, I have had witness so many times of the exact opposite that never would a label of any sort ‘either deceive or deny ‘ my journey into a place of truths. We are on the road to perfection at all times but some christians have us believe they walk in it, are it, and personally have a divine right to ‘lord it over those lesser beings called the majority human race’s freedom of choices.

Trust is a journey into someones place of abiding how far you want to let someone in to your place of abiding is the answer and trust can only be given when you are confident that those let in, should they betray you, are of and in a place that you have already conquered in yourself and therefore are able to deal with.

We trust each other and yet!………………..

I for one like to think I can be trusted, but of course need to proove that daily! I find it an honour to be able to do so, DO YOU.

  37. Bene Diction says:

    Hopesome:

True is looking for a lot of things, I think.

Gordon Driver (Axcess Automation/Funds) has commented at BDBO in the past, and he is free to comment now, but he seems more comfortable using the handle ‘True.’

I’ve invited him to elaborate and provide a link for his statement he left under another post:

“The SEC complaint on their website says $10 million was paid back to investors. An investor would not be a victim if he received his investment back. BD you are not reporting the truth.”

  38. Howie51 says:

    @True

This is from a speech by Sarah Palin given in Canada. See if you can find anything remotely resembling an intelligent thought.

“I’m wanting to, though, kind of shift away from the political. I’m just getting off the trough from doing a lot of Tea Parties across the US, man those are a blast. They’re rowdy and they’re wild and it’s just another melting pot, there’s just diversity there and all walks of life and all forms of partisanship and non partisanship just wanting good things to happen in this part of the world. It’s been a blast. The shift from the political, so now that I have that shift from the political but still have that desire to talk about the economy and talk about energy and resources and national security and all those things. I was telling Todd, okay, this is like [inaudible] on the vice presidential campaign trail, where you never really knew what you were getting into when you get into that line before you were interviewed. Obviously, sometimes I never knew what I was getting into in an interview. Obviously!”

    The woman is an idiot.

  39. Hopesome says:

The speaker will say what they fell will cause a good reaction from the audience

  43. Lawrence says:

    Something “off” about that “True”.

When someone names himself as being true, usually the obverse is, in fact and deed, true.

The Mainses SHOULD have been charged with fraud and slling securities without a license, but daddy pulled strings.

I see Franklin Graham has TWO full-time salaries lol. How can you have more than one? Not possible nor legal, but criminally so. 1.2 million plus perks and pension plan etc. Scamming people who actually do produce something by their labour.

    http://www.scribd.com/laws632

  44. Bene Diction says:

We don’t know who pulled strings Lawrence, we’ll never know.
We have no idea if the ‘restitution fund’ Ron Mainse says he had set up is something any investors he was a finder to will see any of.
That doesn’t address the other investors his brother and cousin drew in.
I think we have to take Ron Mainse word for his remorse, the reality will be in the restitution.
Doesn’t mean trust will be restored, his reasoning was egregious, the personal failing and institutional sin harmful to all concerned.

Franklin Graham supposedly stopped drawing one of his two salaries after his compensation was publicly exposed. After 55 employees of the Billy GrahamEvangelistic Association were laid off. After it was disclosed he was making 1.2 million. His Samaritan Purse salary was the highest of any leader of a US non-profit.

    http://www.thetimesnews.com/articles/graham-28766-based-franklin.html

  45. Lawrence says:

Hmm, I see the SEC dropped charges as Gordon apparently scraped together 14 million? That is really fishy. Also, in reply to post 3: “Jesus gave us the ultimate gift by letting His heart be broken on the Cross. How many more times do we have to try a break it again?”

ARE YOU FOR REAL? Jesus is was and always will be GOD. Read the 4 gospels, He was ALWAYS in perfect control. They tried to kill Him on several occasions, but they were not able to.

The issue of soteriology is extremely poorly taught by our star-crossed seeker- friendly platform artists, spewing out their pop pseudo gospel! When I read the account of the cross, it is obvious Jesus died at will, then took up His life again. His heart was never “broken”. He took upon Himself ALL of the sins of everyone who lived, is alive now, and will live. He suffered the wrath of God for EACH sin. ONLY GOD could survive that. Jesus, being God, was able to suffer the full extent of God’s just wrath and anger. The sun was not permitted to shine for those hours, as Jesus was the object of UNBELIEVABLE fury.
Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, each one to his own way; and Jehovah has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
52:14 As many were astonied at Thee; His visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men.”
THIS is why Jesus shrank back in the garden – He feared not the execution, He feared the extreme punishment from the Father. Which Jesus had told Isaiah to prophesy.

But “alpha” or “The Shack/Outhouse” or “Message/Massage” or “Porpoise Driven Scmiel” heresies know NOTHING of the REAL God.
True soteriology is something rarely properly taught.

Instead we have heretics/wolves such as zionist Joe Amaral and John Hagee ranting about things they nothing of.

  46. Bene D says:

Lawrence, do you have a link to the SEC ‘dropped’ charges?

    An agreement was reached.
Not even close to the same thing.
The SEC and CFTC were civil proceedings.
The California court ruled on one of the four motions for relief as far as I can see.
There is nothing in the December decision stating criminal charges would not or could not be filed in the future.

  47. True says:

    Lawrence,

You claim that you’re one of the few that know the real God. I’m sure Osama Bin Laden feels the same way.

  48. Bene D says:

  49. True says:

    BD

    Nicely said.

  50. Sean says:

“I think my efforts are fruitless.”

    The goal of those efforts?

You’re going to educate us on truth “True”?
